    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

There has been a huge momentum shift from that Max Malins attempted cross field kick. It was as if to say we are in the right areas. It was a massive difference having Alex Mitchell at scrum half, a different player from Jack van Poortvliet.

Everything going England's way now as they force a turnover from a scrum. France have tended to flag in the second half of games...

Is that the sound of belief? England have been much improved since the restart but they couldn't really get any worse.

Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Alex Mitchell immediately starts with pace and accuracy. He is there as soon as the ball is presented. The ball has gone from Alex Mitchell to Marcus Smith three or four times in that passage. Pace, pace, pace.

So much better from England, more tempo, more incisive passing. Alex Mitchell starts it and Freddie Steward hits the line with pace and power and get sover the line.

    Marcus Smith adds the conversion.

Fred: Don’t say Marcus Smith hasn’t had the chance to show anything. He’s been poor. If his performance had been by Owen Farrell you’d call him for poor kicking from hand,as well as poor options added to his defensive liability. Lawrence is basically defending the 10 channel!

    England 3-27 France

Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

Max Malins should have celebrated regardless as the referee will be influenced by the player if it is a close call. It is a close call and he should have celebrated! If he celebrated the referee could have gone with an on-field try decision but he went the other way.

No try. A valiant attempt from wing Max Malins but he never had the ball under control. Juggled it.

France have proven that you can play out there, offload after offload. The speed of ball from France is ripping them apart.

A first error from Thomas Ramos as he allows a Freddie Steward clearing kick to go out. Good territory for England, can they make it count? They win a penalty from the lineout.

There are minutes to determine whether you want to be in this squad, in Steve Borthwick's mind for a World Cup squad. It is that important. Time to step up boys.
