England captain Emily Scarratt speaking to ITV Sport: "We are perfectionists. We have to take into account that it is our first hit out in the while, but we are not the finished article. This is a nice oppoortunity to look back and see what we can improve on but it is awesome to be back out there.

"There is lots to look at in terms of discipline, we gave away way too many penalties in the latter half of the second half. There is no reinventing the wheel, we just need to sharpen up the tools in the box."

England player of the match Claudia MacDonald speaking to ITV: "It is amazing to be back, we put on a performance, but I cannot believe I am back.

"It was a pretty tough couple of months but we got through it. I probably lost a bit of belief, but my sister and the rest of my family didn't. We expected to make mistakes as a team, we have had a huge pre-season and haven't played together for a while, and we made mistakes."

MacDonald feared earlier this year that she might not play rugby again after sustaining a serious neck injury.
