If the scoreline doesn't leave much room for doubt, individual performances will be more intriguing.

In particular, the inclusion of Tatyana Heard at 12. She hasn't played for England sine February 2019 but has been thrown back in the World Cup mix late on by head coach Simon Middleton.

Holly Aitchison - who went well in the Six Nations - will be watching from the bench, with fellow contestant for the shirt Amber Reed not in the matchday squad.

Cath O'Donnell is in a similar position at lock after a string of injuries have kept her out of recent Tests.

Centre Tatyana Heard makes her first England appearance in three years in an experimental side for this meeting with the United States.

Five players from the starting XV that beat France to a Six Nations Grand Slamremain as head coach Simon Middleton considers his options.

Claudia MacDonald, who thought her career had been ended by a neck injury in 2021, starts on the wing.

Cath O'Donnell also returns from injury to fight for a place in the second row.

Sandy Park is buzzing and some excellent tunes are being pumped out (eg It's Tricky).

After England hosted back-to-back record crowds during the Six Nations, with 15,836 at Welford Road the biggest, another horde of over 10,000 are expected today.

The last time the United States beat England, they won the World Cup.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, that was in 1991.

Nowadays it's a different story. England beat the United States 89-0 in November 2021 and, although Red Roses head coach Simon Middleton says he's been "edgy" this week, another home win is expected.

The United States are fifth in the world rankings, but a chasm separated them from England when the teams met back in November.

England ran out 89-0 winners as they crossed for 15 tries.

The visitors' social media team are on point though.

The road to Eden Park begins in Exeter.

On 12 November at 06:30 GMT, the Rugby World Cup final will kick off.

Frankly, if Simon Middleton's England side are not one of the two teams contesting for the big pot, then their campaign will have been a failure.

They are world number ones by a street, on a 23-match winning run and have beaten all their main rivals over the past 12 months.

This afternoon's match against the United States is the first of two warm-up matches for England to try out new things and fight for tickets on the plane.
