Nope. Not this time. England are held up but United States are cut down to size with second row Hallie Taufoou dispatched to the bin for an infringement in the build-up to that score.

England are over the line, but have they got the ball down?

Second row Cath O'Donnell thinks she might have. But the United States' Rachel Johnson and Joanna Kitlinski think they have kept the pill off the carpet pile.

The TMO is currently giving the video tape a close examination.

This is not the clinically ruthless England we saw over the Six Nations.

They usually punish opposition, regardless of their level. Today it's dropped balls, wayward line-outs. Not what you'd expect from the favourites to win the World Cup.

England are being frustrated by the United States. When they aren't frustrating themselves.

Some courageous defence from the visitors and a duff line-out throw from hooker Amy Cockayne mean some prime territory has not been translated into scoreboard points.

I'm sat fairly close to the England coaching box at Sandy Park.

I won't quote exactly, but needless to say Simon Middleton expressed some frustration quite vocally about Natasha Hunt's dropped ball over the line...

Oh my! That is an act of hideous butchery.

Emily Scarratt is sent scampering through a hole in the United States defence by a lovely deft no-look pass from fly-half Zoe Harrison.

The skipper has options on either shoulder as she bears down on the full-back, she could probably back herself and get to the line solo, but instead she dithers, dummies, dithers and finally throws a panicked pass to Natasha Hunt inside her.

Hunt cannot hold onto it, spilling forward in the shadow of the posts.

We've had our first U-S-A chant of the afternoon.

The Sandy Park crowd did nothing to try and stamp it out, perhaps because they think the scoreline is only going one way here.

The crowd absolutely loved Jess Breach's score. To be fair, you buy a ticket to an England game and you expect at least one sensational solo effort on the wing.

Enought gas to restart a pipeline.

Jess Breach nabs an interception and the England wing turns on the afterburners to leave the American defenders choking on dust.

Natasha Hunt skips through a hole to score the first try of the afternoon with just four minutes on the clock after Poppy Cleall makes ground.

Emily Scarratt misses the conversion - the wind blowing her kick off course.

England full-back Ellie Kildunne strips the ball out of US wing Lotte Clapp's grip as the visitors attempt to spin wide.

Scrum-half Natasha Hunt puts in a foxy little grubber to buy England some territory.

Back in April, England's star wing Abby Dow broke her leg while playing against Wales.

It was a nasty break and play was paused for a long time to get her treatment.

Now, less than five months later, she's back up and running and has been helping England out in their warm-up.

Simon Middleton expects her to be ready for England's World Cup opener against Fiji on 8 October which will be music to Red Roses fans' ears.

England coach Simon Middleton speaking to ITV Sport: "First and foremost it is about the performance. We have individuals who want to make a statement and collectively we want to see where we are at as a team.

"The nature of the squad, there are 39 players in contention for 32 places and it is incredibly tight.

"The United States are a totally different side to that team from November, with 10 different players on the pitch, new people in the coaching set-up. If anything I think that result will make things more difficult for us."

Saracens' Alev Kelter, who impressed at centre in November's defeat, is named at full-back for the United States, while a fellow Premier 15s star - Exeter's Kate Zackary - is at number eight for the Eagles.

Watch out for Jennine Detiveaux as well. She, like Zackary, is on home turf here at Sandy Park and has gas to burn.

United States: Kelter; Detiveaux, Bizer, Howard, Clapp; Cantorna, Ortiz; Rogers, Kitlinkski, James, Taufoou, Sommer, Johnson, Perris-Redding, Zackary (capt).

Replacements: Treder, Benson, Jacoby, Ashenbrucker, Cairns, Waters, Foster, Feury.
