    Ouch.

Alex Callender is flattened by a crunching tackle from Ireland hooker Neve Jones.

The ball is - unsurprisingly - knocked on in the process and Ireland can take a breather.

    Wales 12-0 Ireland

Here come Wales again, this time through the backs as Carys Williams-Morris and Courtney Keight link up well down the left wing.

Wales are up to within 10 metres once again.

    Nervy moments for Ireland.

    Wales 12-0 Ireland

Ireland are going the wrong way at the moment and are trying to force things.

Centre Aoife Dalton throws a loose pass midway inside her own half which sails into touch.

    Wales will have the lineout.

I'm really impressed with Wales' set piece execution. Ireland have been attacking deep and Wales have forced the turnover. It's a strong start for Wales.

    Wales 12-0 Ireland

We have another short break in place as Ireland wing Aoife Doyle receives some treatment, she looks okay to continue though.

Ireland's penalty makes very little ground as the wind is blowing strongly in Wales' favour in this first half.

Ireland do claim the lineout though and finally have a platform to attack from.

Keira Bevan is so dangerous on the fringes of the rucks.

The scrum-half will snipe around at any sign of a gap and she has spotted the space this time again.

Shades of her score against Italy here last year as she extends Wales' lead.

  7. 'Sign of a really confident team'published at 16 mins

What's key here is that they mixed it up - you've got forward carries then you've got Sisilia Tuipulotu at the back.

It's a sign of a really confident team. Completely had Ireland on the run.

    Wales 12-0 Ireland

Wales are straight back on the attack after the restart, and they had initially forced a knock-on by Ireland but the referee gives the penalty against Wales for a seatbelt tackle so the visitors can clear.

Converted try - Wales 12-0 Irelandpublished at 13 mins

    Keira Bevan, con Keira Bevan

    One way traffic in Cardiff!

The Wales pack are winning every collision so far, and they worked the ball to underneath the Irish posts.

With an advantage coming scrum-half Keira Bevan spots a gap and tries her luck to great success - diving over to score.

Ioan Cunningham will be delighted with what he has seen so far.

And Bevan gets up to kick the extras. What a start for Wales.

    Wales 5-0 Ireland

Wales are building nicely, going through the forwards.

They are five metres out and look difficult to stop at the moment.

    Wales 5-0 Ireland

Referee Amber McLachlan is not happy with the set up of the scrum, which has now been reset for a third time.

However it is fourth time lucky for Wales who are dominating the set piece so far, and they win another penalty which Elinor Snowsill clear up to just outside the Irish 22.

Gwen Crabb has had so many serious injuries and comes back so much stronger, so much fitter and I was really hoping that this campaign would be her campaign.

  13. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Wales 5-0 Ireland

Wales win the scrum midway inside their own half as Ireland fail to make the most of their penalty.

The red wall in the Cardiff Arms Park will be hoping for a repeat of the last set piece.

Greg McWilliams had spoken about the power of the Welsh forwards ahead of the match and, my word, it was evident there.

The drive from the scrum, and then again from the maul, was frightening. Ireland were taken apart.

An early indication of the power of Sisilia Tuipulotu in that scrum which forced the early penalty.

Last year the power of the Welsh pack showed with two tries for Donna Rose and the forwards are continuing that theme as Alex Callender drives over.

    Impressive start for Wales.

A sad end to the contest for Gwenn Crabb, who is helped off the field.

On in her place comes the veteran Sioned Harries.

Harries will play at number eight while Bethan Lewis switches to flanker and Georgia Evans moves to the second row.

    Wales 5-0 Ireland

Ireland win a penalty just inside the Welsh half as Wales are penalised for being offside.

There is a break in play now as Gwenn Crabb receives treatment in the middle of the field.

She seems to be in some considerable discomfort holding her shoulder.

  18. 'Best possible start for Wales'published at 7 mins

Best possible start there from Wales. Initially a bit shaky but they re-grouped.

    Wales 5-0 Ireland

Wales again clear their lines well from the restart.

Meabh Deely spills the clearing kick but it went backwards according to the referee.

Ireland have the ball on halfway.

Try - Wales 5-0 Irelandpublished at 4 mins

    Alex Callender

That driving maul is working again in 2023!

Wales claim the line-out around 15 metres from the Irish try-line and inch their way closer and closer before Alex Callender bundles over the line in the corner.

Keira Bevan narrowly misses the acute conversion, but it was still the start Wales were looking for.
