So now it is Wales' turn to kick into the wind and Elinor Snowsill's kick-off highlights just how breezy it is in Cardiff today as it gets caught in the air.

Ireland gather possession and can clear.

They were excellent for the first 25-30 minutes but then going into half-time, they have made a few errors and as we said the wind is going to be a battle.

But for 35 minutes I thought Wales were exceptional. They did everything they needed to do. Ireland didn't trouble them at all.

You can see with Wales' composure, they're playing with intensity which shows fitness but they're not overplaying which shows composure and they're so comfortable together.

The more they see each other and the more they play together the more it'll result in moments like we've seen.

What a start for Wales. Set pieces is functioning superbly. The girls are up for this game.

Through the power of the forwards or the hands of the backs, it doesn't matter.

Wales are dominating every area of this game. Ireland don't have an answer.

  9. Postpublished at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 25 March 2023

    HT: Wales 26-0 Ireland

If Wales' dominance needed evidencing, they have had 10 entries into the Irish 22 compared to none in the other direction.

Ireland also have 15 missed tackles compared to just five from Wales.

I think the decision to go with the wind was key and it has put Ireland under serious pressure. It is making it very difficult and gave Wales dominant line speed.

  12. Wales erasing painful memoriespublished at 15:07 Greenwich Mean Time 25 March 2023

    Gareth Bailey

It's two years since Wales were humbled 45-0 here by Ireland, a result that really pushed calls for professionalism.

Two years on from that result and utilising 25 professional contracts, Wales look to be heading for that point total themselves.

In a press conference on Monday, fly-half Elinor Snowsill said she was looking to inspire the next generation coming to watch the team.

Wales have certainly done that with their play in the first half.

  13. Half-time - Wales 26-0 Irelandpublished at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time 25 March 2023

Only one side in it so far.

From the first minute it was clear the Wales pack had the power advantage as they won all the early collisions.

The driving maul has been a key weapon for Wales once again, and tries from Alex Callender and Sioned Harries both came from that avenue.

There were also tries from Keira Bevan and captain Hannah Jones, as Wales never let Ireland take breath.

The wind was hugely in Wales' favour in that half, something they will have to content with after the break.

But the bonus point is already secured and it is a long way back for the women in green.

Join us for the second half in a matter of minutes.

This Welsh forward pack have learnt, they've grown, they've stayed in the fight and they've come away with a dominant performance in this first half.

You can see with Ireland that they are inexperienced side and you can see it's starting to show in terms of how they're playing. They look disjointed.

Wales look confident and in control.

  16. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Wales 26-0 Ireland

For the first time this afternoon Wales are inaccurate at the line-out.

Ireland look to counter down the right wing but an ambitious offload is spilled forward and Wales have the scrum with 30 seconds left in the half.

  17. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Wales 26-0 Ireland

Kerin Lake is penalised from not rolling away but from a quick tap-and-go penalty Ireland go the wrong way as a loose pass from Nicole Cronin bounces all the way back into their own 22.

The Wales pack are alert to the situation, and although Brittany Hogan gathers from Ireland she holds onto the ball under immense pressure and Wales will have one last attack this half.

  18. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Wales 26-0 Ireland

Out of nowhere it is the Irish scrum which appears in complete control.

For the second successive scrum the Welsh pack are hurtled backwards - to the delight of the Irish forwards.

Wales scored tries last year but most through the forwards so it's really good to see them developing the backline attack.

  20. One way traffic in Cardiffpublished at 36 mins

    Wales 26-0 Ireland

Wales are not satisfied with just the four first-half tries as they make good headway once more into the Irish half.

Lisa Neumann and Courtney Keight link up well down the right wing, where there has been little action so far in the first half.

Referee Amber McLachlan stops the game as play heads towards an injury Enya Breen, who is down for Ireland.

She needs some treatment on her right leg but looks okay to continue.
