That's the bit that frustrates you. The first scrum, there's a bit of movement in it, the ball is at the number 8's feet, the scrum collapses and he gives a penalty advantage; the second scrum, not much movement, the whole scrum collapses with the ball at the number 8's feet, the ref says play on. Do you not play on at both of them? It's just that consistency with the management of the scrum.

Two missed efforts off the tee from Edinburgh's Argentinian maestro, as this effort from distance bounces off the left-hand post.

Glasgow are having a decent spell here.

They win a penalty at the breakdown which they kick towards the corner.

A great bit of work from the Edinburgh forwards secures a turnover, and the visitors can clear their lines.

    It's all happening out there.

Edinburgh's lineout, which has been so dodgy all season, fails to find its mark, and Glasgow pile forward through Sione Vailanu.

The hosts think they have scored the game's opening try, but it's an Edinburgh penalty for a fairly obvious double movement.

First signs of life from Glasgow in attack, as Kyle Steyn gets on the end of Sione Tuipulotu's grubber kick.

However, Steyn's hack forward drifts into touch.

It looks very cold and very wet at Scotstoun - I'm glad to be sat at the relative warmth of my desk.

Let's see who you're backing at home - Thumbs up for Glasgow, thumbs down for Edinburgh.

  14. Paterson gets the nodpublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 23 December 2022

    Glasgow Warriors v Edinburgh (19:35)

Edinburgh head coach Mike Blair is looking forward to the game.

He tells BBC Radio Scotland: "It's good to be back [in Glasgow]. It will be a good contest but there will be a little bit more smarts required [in the rain].

"Wes [Goosen] was struggling a bit with his calf. He trained fully on Tuesday and complained about it on Wednesday. We are comfortable bringing in Harry Paterson. It's important for us to back our young, talented players. We want to put a lot of pressure on this Glasgow team."

  15. All about improvements for Smithpublished at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 23 December 2022

    Glasgow Warriors v Edinburgh (19:35)

Glasgow head coach Franco Smith has been talking to BBC Radio Scotland.

"Tonight is all about what we can do better," he said.

"We've been growing, it's always a learning process. Hopefully tonight it will be another step in the right direction. Edinburgh are very well organised at the breakdown. We will have to be at our best in certain areas with and without the ball."

  16. Can Edinburgh breach fortress Scotstoun in bid to retain 1872 Cup?published at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 23 December 2022

    Glasgow Warriors v Edinburgh (19:35)

Edinburgh won the second leg of last year's 1872 Cup 28-11, which overturned Glasgow's 30-17 win in the first leg, and claimed those all-important bragging rights.

They also currently sit three points and three places above Glasgow in the URC, having played a game more.

However, they will have their work cut out to win tonight - Edinburgh last won at Scotstoun in 2018, and Glasgow are unbeaten at home since October 2021 when Leinster came to town.

I saw a Glasgow fan on Twitter predict a 90 point win earlier, but that might be stretching things a touch...

  17. Late switch in Glasgow front rowpublished at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 23 December 2022

    Glasgow Warriors v Edinburgh (19:35)

Glasgow have made a last-minute change to their side as well - Nathan McBeth has withdrawn from the bench.

Lucio Sordoni now starts at tighthead, with Murphy Walker moving to the 17 shirt to cover loosehead.

Well, I've got just the thing for you.

If Gregor Townsend is here he'll be watching it through the cracks of his fingers because I don't think they'll be holding back.

  20. Duhan starts for Edinburghpublished at 19:19 Greenwich Mean Time 23 December 2022

    Glasgow Warriors v Edinburgh (19:35)

The headline news for the visitors is that Scotland winger Duhan van der Merwe returns to the starting XV, having missed last week's win over Castres through injury.

Hooker Tom Cruse, a live-texter's dream, comes in for the injured Stuart McInally, and Connor Boyle replaces Luke Crosbie in the back row.

There are three enforced changes in the back line - Blair Kinghorn and Matt Currie both picked up knocks last weekend, so Charlie Savala and Chris Dean come into the side.

Wes Goosen has also been withdrawn from the lineup last minute, so youngster Harry Paterson comes into the side at fullback, with Emiliano Boffelli switching to the wing.
