  2. 'Disappointed it's come to this'published at 22:15 British Summer Time 31 March 2023

    FT: Leicester 16-6 Edinburgh

In sharp contrast, Mike Blair was frustrated with Edinburgh's inability to manage the game:

"We lacked patience," he said on BT Sport. "We were right in the game - it was about who blinked first, and we did.

"The game was won and lost in the kick cycle - we struggled to deal with that. We looked in it right from the start, but lost patience and made errors at crucial times that they capitalised on.

"The conditions were tough, but our mistakes happened at crucial times. I thought we weathered the storm, came back into it, but we gave them points too easily.

"I'm disappointed - I know the effort the guys put in. With the squad we've got, we're disappointed it's come to this."

  3. 'We deserved the win'published at 22:13 British Summer Time 31 March 2023

    FT: Leicester 16-6 Edinburgh

A very happy Richard Wigglesworth believes his Leicester side were deserved victors tonight:

"It was a proper cup tie," he said on BT Sport. "I thought we were dominant second half and deserved the win.

"Maybe I made [Jasper Wiese] a bit angry. He showed he's going to get himself back in the mix pretty quickly. It was Jamie Ritchie he ran over the top of - he won't enjoy watching that one back.

"We needed to play the game as far away from our try-line as possible. We got to Kinghorn and then got to Pyrgos - it was too much for them.

"Jack van Poortvliet kicked beautifully from nine, and in the conditions, that was the game. I'm loving it - the boys rip in everyday, and hopefully they enjoy a beer or two tonight.

"We get a top Irish team whatever happens, but I think we might be off to Dublin."

Edinburgh put themselves under so much pressure. Leicester didn't have an attack at all, but they were smarter.

Edinburgh created more opportunities, but did some really daft stuff.

  5. Edinburgh 'a rabble'published at 22:02 British Summer Time 31 March 2023

    Tom English
BBC Scotland's chief sports writer on Radio Scotland

Edinburgh started the second half well, put a bit of pressure on, got into the lead, and from that point on they were a rabble.

Mistakes all over the place - Edinburgh lost eight lineouts tonight.

It was a slow, slow demise. Beyond that encouraging start to the second half, they just faded away.

That's incredibly modest - it was some finish from Wiese.

Well worth a watch if you can.

  7. Playing in these games 'a privilege' - Wiesepublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 31 March 2023

    FT: Leicester 16-6 Edinburgh

Player of the Match Jasper Wiese has been giving his immediate reaction to that hard-fought win:

"I just got the ball at the right time," he said on BT Sport. "The boys did the hard work to get the ball and I just went over to finish it for them. Right place at the right time.

"We spoke about the privilege we have playing in these games. The breakdown was massive for us, we dug hard - I don't really know what to say."

He only came on at half-time, but Jasper Wiese has been named Player of the Match on the TV coverage.

Hard to argue really - the South African has carried superbly, and has scored the game's only try.

The very definition of a game-changer.

Handre Pollard is running the show now.

He dinks a delightfully weighted kick in behind and puts Edinburgh back into their own 22.

They need to go the length of the field.

Jamie Ritchie has given away a really soft penalty and now Edinburgh are more than a score away.

He's an international, he's the captain - come on man.

You just cannot give away those sort of penalties.

    Handre Pollard

Jamie Ritchie now blatantly infringes at the breakdown and gifts Handre Pollard a straightforward kick at goal.

He doesn't need a second invitation, and that probably wraps things up for Leicester.
