Warren Gatland has often called Leigh Halfpenny the best defensive full-back in the world and he has again saved Wales with an excellent tackle and turnover.

The 34-year-old is rolling back the years, after today becoming the oldest Wales back to play in a World Cup game - beating Shane Williams's record in 2011.

    Nicky Robinson
Former Wales and Cardiff fly-half on BBC Radio Wales

Wales are getting some lovely play in the wide channels it's just that composure though when the games are this open all the patterns of play for teams go out the window.

  5. Wales wanting to 'shine as individuals'published at 33 mins

    Wales 7-0 Portugal

    Emyr Lewis
Former Wales flanker on BBC Radio Cymru

Wales are getting isolated much too easily.

We spoke about the units before the game, you have to play as groups and Wales aren't doing that as they want to shine as individuals.

Wales aren't driving into the rucks because they don't want to do the unseen work but it needs to be done to get good ball for the backs.

But they cough up possession and Wales win the turnover, it's Leigh Halfpenny of all people.

  7. Postpublished at 30 mins

Portugal are back down in Wales' 22 thanks to a fantastic 50:22 kick.

  8. 'Stupid' play from Williamspublished at 28 mins

    Wales 7-0 Portugal

    Caryl James
Former Wales wing on BBC Radio Cymru

It's completely stupid from Johnny Williams, the first thing you learn is not to play the ball on the ground.

It's unforgiveable from Williams, now Wales are under pressure.

Surely one of the aims would have been to keep 15 men on the pitch!

    The discipline needs to improve.

  9. 'Williams can't be doing that'published at 27 mins

    Wales 7-0 Portugal

    Nicky Robinson
Former Wales and Cardiff fly-half on BBC Radio Wales

It was a good tackle from Johnny Williams but he can't be doing that it's silly, you know the rules he knows he shouldn't be doing that.

  10. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Wales 7-0 Portugal

Portugal turn down a kick at posts and go for the corner.

They look to drive it, but that's excellent defence from Wales.

    Wales 7-0 Portugal

    Emyr Lewis
Former Wales flanker on BBC Radio Cymru

Surely that ball was knocked on from that high ball?

I'm not sure what Wales' tactics are, but Johnny Williams has played the ball on the floor that's a professional foul.

  12. Sin-bin - Johnny Williamspublished at 25 mins

    Wales 7-0 Portugal

Wales centre Johnny Williams is sent to the bin for blocking a pass.

    It's cynical.

    Wales are down to 14.

  13. 'Crazy' Portugese rugbypublished at 25 mins

    Wales 7-0 Portugal

    Caryl James
Former Wales wing on BBC Radio Cymru

We saw how clinical Wales can be against Fiji where they came back with points every time they entered Fiji's 22.

Wales have to do the same today, get their roles correct and conquer this storm.

Portugal are playing crazy rugby at the moment but I don't think they can maintain this for the whole game.

  14. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Wales 7-0 Portugal

That's another disappointing attack from Wales, Dafydd Jenkins knocks the ball on and it's a Portugal scrum.

  15. 'Wales are not clinical enough'published at 23 mins

    Wales 7-0 Portugal

    Nicky Robinson
Former Wales and Cardiff fly-half on BBC Radio Wales

Portugal are great, they've got a bit of speed the back three is really where their strengths are and they will try and get the ball as much as they can.

Wales did so well against Fiji last week, at the moment they are probably not quite clinical enough.

  16. Time for some composurepublished at 22 mins

    Wales 7-0 Portugal

Time for a bit of kick tennis and it's Wales who win the battle after Jeronimo Portela puts the ball out on the full.

They go all the way back to Portugal's 22.

  17. Wales need to regrouppublished at 21 mins

  18. Postpublished at 21 mins

We re-start and Portugal have lineout ball in Wales' half.

They look to ship the ball wide.

  19. 'It's end to end'published at 21 mins

    Wales 7-0 Portugal

    Josh Navidi
Former Wales and British and Irish Lions back row on BBC Scrum V

It's end to end stuff, one of those games that if you're a neutral it's exciting - but I'm pretty nervous.
