I've loved watching this World Cup apart from England. How can we be one game from winning it 4 years ago to being a million miles from winning it?No tempo, no creation. Borthwick out if his depth.

Please tell me that Borthwick took Ford off to save him for the QFs...Farrell's time has been and gone, he's got his record now let's move on!

England so lucky. As a fan we did not deserve that victory and the performance (excluding Care, Smith and Martin) was woeful. We will go out in the QF unless we really sort ourselves out in a week. Borthwick has to go.

Owen Farrell speaking to ITV after the game: "It was scrappy, it did not feel like the best from us. All credit to Samoa and how they came out and got at us, it was tough to deal with at times and we did not deal with it discipline wise and with mistakes. But I'm glad we found a way back in and happy we found a way to win."

On breaking the points record for England: "I don't know what it means, I am still thinking about the game and us. It'll be like that for a long time to come and I'll think about it later down the line."

Just move on from Farrell! Record points scorer, but latter England performances have been sterile with him in the side!

Drop Farrell, much better team without him. When will Borthwick take the blinkers off about him.

Danny Care is England's oldest back to play at a World Cup at 36, and that tackle he made to keep out Neria Fomai was age-defying. Incredible.

My worry is they will revert back to having Owen Farrell back at 10 even though George Ford has played well.

I think Ford is the standout 10.

They've had suspensions, red cards and reshuffles but England may head into the knockout stage of this World Cup with more questions than answers.

Where do they go from here? Who do they select from here?

What a tackle from Danny Care, that was a game saver - he scored the try and then saved the try. Scattered across the Lille pitch are Samoan players laying on the floor.

They have left it all on that pitch, an incredible effort from Samoa tonight. England have a sigh of relief.
