  1. Teams are outpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Wales v England (17:30 BST)

Leigh Halfpenny is afforded the honour of being first out of the tunnel and gets a genuinely heartfelt roar from the Wales crowd.

Now for a moment's silence in memory of Clive Rowlands.

Actually... it's a moment's applause. Far more fitting for such a passionate guy.

  2. Quiz - Answerspublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

So I asked earlier if you could name the other eight Welsh centurions before Leigh Halfpenny.

Bonus points for any statos who got the number of caps!

    They are:

    • Gethin Jenkins - 129

    • Dan Biggar - 107
    • Stephen Jones - 104

  3. DJ Navidi on the deckspublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Wales v England (17:30 BST)

I'm sure he would rather be on the pitch today, but former Wales flanker Josh Navidi is still getting the Principality Stadium crowd going with a special guest DJ slot.

    Bangin' tunes...

This [match] gives a chance to a lot of Wales' young players.

Looking through the list there's only four, five maybe six that I can see starting the game against Fiji at the moment.

  7. What a day so farpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Wales v England (17:30 BST)

What a match we've just seen at Murrayfield where 14-man Scotland held out to beat World Cup hosts France.

Scotland were trailing 21-3 at half-time but came roaring back to win 25-23 even after Zander Fagerson became the first player in the northern hemisphere to have his yellow card upgraded to red on the new review system.

The idea is to avoid lengthy delays to the games when referees have to watch countless replays to decide on the colour of the card.

Instead the player is binned and another official looks over the incident.

It means Fagerson is now sweating on his involvement in the opening game of the World Cup while France have some questions over the depth of their squad.

Earlier this morning, Wales' World Cup opponents Fiji looked mightily impressive with a 35-12 win over Japan.

    A warning shot to Wales.

England's first opponents Argentina face South Africa this evening.

Former Wales fly-half Nicky Robinson says Leigh Halfpenny is probably the best goal kicker Wales have seen since Neil Jenkins.

Ellis Genge says any England player can "wholeheartedly open up" to him, as he prepares to captain the side against Wales in Cardiff on Saturday.

With regular skipper Owen Farrell sitting out the match, Genge will lead England for the second time.

"When you get the captaincy, players sometimes don't speak their mind as they feel it might get back to people," he said.

"The boys wholeheartedly can open up to me so I will go and have a few conversations.

"Not necessarily about selection on Monday but more about the match on Saturday in terms of what I want from people and what they want from me."

  14. Remembering Rowlandspublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Wales v England (17:30 BST)

It's been a terribly sad week with the loss of Clive Rowlands - a man who embodied Welsh rugby.

The former Wales captain, coach, manager and Welsh Rugby Union president died aged 85.

It seems fitting that his first game came against England in 1963.

He was named captain that day, and just like today's captain Jac Morgan, was from the village of Cwmtwrch.

  15. Wales will do 'something special' in Francepublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Wales v England (17:30 BST)

Head coach Warren Gatland says Wales will "surprise a few people at the World Cup" next month.

Wales have had a terrible run of form, and only managed one win in this year's Six Nations.

They have also slipped to ninth in the world rankings.

But Gatland says the group is "in a good place".

"I am telling you now that this team will do something special. I love Wales being written off and people can keep doing that because it just makes us stronger," he said.

  16. Not 'a selection shootout' for Englandpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Wales v England (17:30 BST)

England assistant coach Richard Wigglesworth says today's match will not be treated as a 'selection shootout' for rUGBY World Cup.

They instead want to give players "the best chance of playing well".

"We have a pretty good idea of what we want [as the final squad], and those conversations have been ongoing for a long time," Wigglesworth said.

England's 33-man squad will be named on Monday, three weeks before the deadline.

  18. Quiz - Name Wales' centurionspublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Wales v England (17:30 BST)

Leigh Halfpenny is set to become the ninth player to win 100 caps for Wales.

Can you name the other eight?

    Answers before kick-off.

  19. Halfpenny set to join 100 clubpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Wales v England (17:30 BST)

Leigh Halfpenny will make his 100th Wales appearance this afternoon.

Halfpenny was just 19 when he made his debut against South Africa in 2008.

His four British and Irish Lions caps saw him reach 100 Tests against Canada in 2021 - but that was an occasion to forget as he suffered a serious injury just one minute into the game.

He'll be hoping for better luck today.

  20. Smith starts for Englandpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Wales v England (17:30 BST)

Head coach Steve Borthwick has shown faith in Marcus Smith who makes his first start at fly-half since England's heavy defeat to France in the Six Nations.

He is partnered by Harlequins team-mate Danny Care who was omitted by Eddie Jones at the 2019 Rugby World Cup

    Ellis Genge captains the side.

Flanker Tom Pearson makes his debut, while potential debutants Theo Dan and Tom Willis are on the bench.

Regular captain Owen Farrell, Jamie George and Maro Itoje are absent after winning the Premiership with Saracens.

Max Malins is the only player from the Premiership final in the starting XV.

    Here's the team in full:

England: England: Steward; Malins, Marchant, Porter, Cokanasiga; Smith, Care; Genge (capt), Blamire, Stuart; Ribbans, Martin; Ludlam, Pearson, Dombrandt.
