    Wales 3-10 Scotland

It takes the massive boot of Lleucu George to get Wales upfield into this wind.

Scotland fly-half Helen Nelson runs it back but Wales openside Alex Callender is over the ball in the tackle and wins a penalty.

She's an absolute demon at the breakdown - but Nelson will be annoyed by that.

Yes Chris, the breeze at Scotland's backs has certainly picked up. You can see the top of the posts swaying.

    Can Scotland capitalise?

Wales are being conservative and kicking for territory.

I think this is a 15 or 16 point wind, and if Wales can keep it at this distance I think they'll be better second half.

That was after Coreen Grant skinned Hesketh for a third time.

The Wales full-back is just seeing a blur of blue right now whenever Grant runs at her.

That was a crunching collision between the two tight-heads.

I could here the smash from the press box. Ouch!

Wales are kicking early and not manipulating the Scottish back three.

They keep kicking it straight down Meryl Smith's throat.

They need to attack a couple of phases, manipulate the back three and kick on the front foot.

It's allowing Scotland to get front foot ball, Wales can't reorganise their defence and Scotland are so good at these long passes, they're exploiting it every time.

    Wales 3-10 Scotland

Right now the only area Scotland will be unhappy with is the lineout.

They've had six throws and have lost half of them.

That's why they're not making the most of all this territory.

The occasion looks to have got to Wales in this first quarter.

They look disorganised in defence, the attack is littered with basic handling errors and Scotland are taking full advantage.

Great turnover by Bethan Lewis at an important time.

Scotland look comfortable in attack but the line-out isn't working at the moment.

Abbie Fleming and Bethan Lewis double up in the tackle and then Lewis is straight over the ball, a crucial moment in the game.

Bethan Lewis with a crucial turnover in the shadow of the Welsh posts and the hosts heave a sigh of relief.

Scotland not turning pressure into points at the moment - despite the lead.

Jasmine Joyce is just outstanding with her chase back tackles, it's a real strength of hers.

She's made up for the earlier mistake in the first try.

What a chase back and what's really good is she'll get back and contest at the ruck, but unfortunately the ref thought she did it illegally.

It's something we see her do in sevens and she's brought it here today.

Keira Bevan had the chance to give Wales some breathing space then but failed to make touch and invites Scotland to go again.

Well I just mentioned her, but Joyce has just used that pace to deny Scotland a try.

Coreen Grant stepped past Hesketh - again - but Joyce showed great speed and determination to get back and save five points.

Oh I bet Grant thought a second score was coming then!

Jazz Joyce just bumped off a defender... you don't see that often from the diminutive sevens star.

Usually she beats them for pace.

It seems to me Wales are really targeting the breakdown but they're not communicating with the referee enough in terms of asking her when they can and can't put heat on it.

  17. Penalty: Wales 3-10 Scotlandpublished at 15 mins

    Helen Nelson

Another penalty for Scotland and Wales are going to have to clean up their act here.

They were among the worst offenders in the Six Nations last year and they're carrying on where they left off.

Nelson more than happy to accept the gift.

That is an excellent kick under a huge amount of pressure by Lleucu George, a really good composed exit.

I thought it was on to play, it's unfortunate we couldn't get it away.

I think speeding up our own ball is going to be crucial for our opportunities in attack.

  19. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Wales 3-7 Scotland

    That's great defence from Wales.

First they stopped the lineout drive in its tracks and then Alex Callender stripped the ball in open play which Natalia John pounced upon.

    Cleared the pressure... for now.

Attacking lineout here for Scotland after Wales concede a needles penalty in midfield. Big chance.
