Italian referee Gianluca Gnecchi gets us under way at a sold-out Hive Stadium. That's 7,774 packed into the little stadium in the shadow of Scottish Gas Murrayfield.

Will it be a repeat of the Challenge Cup Final in 2015, or will Edinburgh find a vital European win?

  2. Gloucester 'aware' of Edinburgh's strengthspublished at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    Edinburgh v Gloucester (17:30)

Gloucester head coach George Skivington on Viaplay: "We haven't had the first half of the Premiership we wanted this season, so it's nice to get back into Europe.

"It's a different structure - these guys play in a different league.

"The last three weeks we've had good availability after months of not having that. It's good to give Santi a break when he's played so much rugby. It's nice to be able to rotate a few, but the boys are still hungry to play rugby.

"Edinburgh have a star-studded line-up with plenty of internationals, and they like to play rugby. That's something that doesn't happen too much in the Premiership - most teams just kick it back to you, so we've got to be aware."

  3. Everitt's 'easy decision' for new contractpublished at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    Edinburgh v Gloucester (17:30)

Edinburgh head coach Sean Everitt has been talking to Viaplay after signing a new deal at the club this week: "It was an easy decision at the end of the day. I'd like to thank Edinburgh for supporting me and persevering with me for the last five months.

"The rest was well needed. They came back on Monday rejuvenated and full of energy, and we're ready to go.

"You've just got to look at the names on their teamsheet, we're not going to underestimate them - we'll have to play well tonight.

"It's always great to have senior players coming back."

    Edinburgh v Gloucester (17:30)

There's four changes to the Cherry & Whites' starting XV from last weekend's 17-10 defeat at Bath for tomorrow's Challenge Cup fixture against Edinburgh.

Louis Rees-Zammit returns to the squad after missing the derby against Bath through illness, he replaces Santi Carreras at full back.

Up front, Jamal Ford-Robinson and Seb Blake come into the front row in place of Mayco Vivas and George McGuigan.

Jack Clement, Lewis Ludlow and Zach Mercer behind them, with Clement replacing Ruan Ackermann, who drops to the bench.

  5. Boffelli and Skinner back as Edinburgh rest Van der Merwe for Gloucester visitpublished at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

Emiliano Boffelli and Sam Skinner will both make their first Edinburgh starts of the season when they take on Gloucester in the European Challenge Cup on Saturday.

Boffelli had only appeared from the bench after Argentina's World Cup exploits, while Sam Skinner has been recovering from a knee injury.

Dave Cherry and Hamish Watson are the other two changes from the side that beat Glasgow at Murrayfield in the second leg of the 1872 Cup.

Wes Goosen moves to the wing while Duhan van der Merwe is rested. Glen Young moves to blindside flanker.

Jamie Ritchie (jaw) and Luke Crosbie (neck) are both unavailable through injury.

  7. Welcome back!published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    Edinburgh v Gloucester (17:30)

We are back, baby! Will there be as much drama in this EPCR Challenge Cup clash as there was at Sandy Park earlier? This eager young reporter hopes so.

Edinburgh are currently outside the top four in Pool 3, and go up against their pool leaders in Gloucester who have two wins from two.

But in the English Premiership, the Cherry and Whites are on a record-breaking run of losses.

So, who can call it? Not me. Let's dive in.

  8. Bye for nowpublished at 15:28 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    FT: Exeter 19-17 Glasgow

That's all from me on live text duties, as Glasgow fall to a heart-breaking defeat at Sandy Park after Euan Ferrie's last-gasp try was ruled out.

My colleague Andrew Petrie will be back later on this afternoon for Edinburgh's Challenge Cup clash with Gloucester.

    Until then, ta-ra.

  9. 'A few heart-stopping moments at the end'published at 15:27 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

FT: Exeter Chiefs 19-17 Glasgow Warriors

Exeter Chiefs boss Rob Baxter speaks to ITV about Glasgow's disallowed try:

"It always seemed like something would be found, if it was recognised. I think there's enough there to make sure it's not a try, but yes - there were a few heart-stopping moments at the end.

"We have to be really careful we don't tell the players too many things to improve every week. The targets are relatively small. Some of them are only 10 games into a Premiership career. We just have to get little bits right.

"We know we'll make mistakes. Today we lacked a bit of energy but we have enough fight about us to see a game off - even in odd circumstances.

"This season is going to be about how quickly we learn, and how quickly we refill our batteries. I want the lads to enjoy this season, but the key for me is where this group can be in four or five years. They're in year one, and I want them to enjoy every year they have."

  10. 'Not to be'published at 15:19 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

FT: Exeter Chiefs 19-17 Glasgow Warriors

Glasgow Warriors head coach Franco Smith tells ITV:

"I think it would have been good to have won it that way, but not to be. It's always tough, both teams were shoulders off [the scrum].

"I'm not going to criticise that, we shouldn't have given the last try away and second half, we weren't at it as much as the first half.

"It's more about what they did than what we did. Compliments to Exeter, they worked hard and played well. They did get our under skin.

"[Next week] is not really make or break for us. We'll kick on from today. There was some excellent stuff; it's a pity not to get the away win at a difficult place to come to."

Glasgow defended very well for almost all of this game. They look very well-coached indeed.

No one is allowed to leave the scrum while the scrum is still is live. It's verging on splitting hairs. I think it is the right decision, but Ferrie has to keep his shoulders bound until the scrum is away, and he didn't.

  13. 'Resilience is a big part of this team'published at 15:07 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    FT: Exeter 19-17 Glasgow

Exeter Chiefs centre Henry Slade tells TNT Sports:

"I don't know how we did that. Full credit to Glasgow, they came and played well today and they were unlucky. Decisions like that can go either way, luckily for us it was on our side.

"There's lot to work on. If we lost that game could we complain? Probably not.

"Resilience is a big part of this team. It's good for the young boys to come through experiences like this. The energy they showed and the way they played was vert impressive."

  14. 'Never seen drama like that'published at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    John Lockyer
Former Exeter Chiefs captain on BBC Radio Devon

What a finish. We've seen some peculiar games.

This was a very poor game of rugby in the first half, but it came to life in the second.

Exeter had a try disallowed, Glasgow have a try disallowed - and we've never seen drama quite like that in the last play of the game.

    I'm questioning that decision.

I don't see why that try has been ruled out.

Heartbreak for Glasgow, and I think they can feel seriously hard done by there.

Exeter have got away with that, big time.

Referee Pierre Brousset decides that Euan Ferrie has released his bind from the scrum early, and gives a penalty against the try-scorer.

    Ferrie looks distraught.

    Euan Ferrie

Unbelievable scenes at Sandy Park! Glasgow have won it right at the death!

Ross Vintcent tries to kick the ball out from the base of the scrum, but scuffs it into Euan Ferrie's hands, and he gets over the line for the most dramatic of endings.

Hang on though, the officials are just checking something...

    Wow.

Glasgow pinch the ball from the restart, and should really score in the corner.

However, Josh McKay knocks-on under pressure, and the chance slips away.

    That was the chance...
