  3. Selby's route to the finalpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 4 May 2014

Mark Selby has had to wait seven years for a second chance to win a Crucible final after his only previous final appearance ended in an 18-13 defeat against John Higgins in 2007.

This is how Selby got to the final this year.

    Round 1 - beat Michael White 10-9

    Round 2 - beat Ali Carter 13-9

    Quarter-Final - beat Alan McManus 13-5

    Semi-Final - beat Neil Robertson 17-15

  4. O'Sullivan's route to the finalpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 4 May 2014

Ronnie O'Sullivan has won the world title five times before. This is how he has reached the final this year...

    Round 1 - beat Robin Hull 10-4

    Round 2 - beat Joe Perry 13-11

    Quarter-Final - beat Shaun Murphy 13-3

    Semi-Final - beat Barry Hawkins 17-7

His quarter-final and semi-final victories saw him win with a session to spare, so he will be fresher than Mark Selby and starts as the bookmakers' favourite.

Hello, good afternoon and thank you for joining us for BBC Sport's live text commentary of the World Snooker Championship final.

I'm Michael Emons and it is my pleasure to be guiding you through all the action from the final. We will have live coverage, expert comments from a host of snooker stars past and present, video clips and interviews and the best reaction.

The Crucible has been the home of snooker since 1977 and in recent times Ronnie O'Sullivan has been the ring master. He has won the world title for the last two years running and has been superb again this year on his way to the final.

World number three Mark Selby has never won the world title and his 2014 hopes nearly ended at the first hurdle. But he has battled hard and fought his way to the final. We may well be in for an absolute classic.
