Shaun Murphy's match against Matthew Stevens also ended 18-16, in case you were wondering.
Taylor v Davis is probably the most famous of them all back in 1985 with the legendary 'Black Ball final', but the other final-frame ones include Hendry v White and Ebdon v Hendry in 1994 and 2002 respectively.
18-16 finals include the 1980 battle between Cliff Thorburn and Alex Higgins, Steve Davis v Jimmy White in 1984, Mark Williams v Matthew Stevens in 2000, and Shaun Murphy against Matthew Stevens in 2005.

An incredible graphic had just been flashed up on the screen that it had been 55 minutes since Mark Selby had last potted a ball.
But he soon ends that run by sinking a long red, the first ball to be potted in the 31st frame. That will be the only one for a while as he sticks Ding in with the cueball tight behind the yellow on its spot.

Simon Allchin: Ding plays snooker like Ballesteros played golf. Often found himself out of position but his recovery shots were exceptional :)
Jamie Saczak: How on earth has Ding made a ton there? That's incredible snooker.

Quote MessageWell played, very well played. He could have let his head drop when Mark Selby won the second frame of the session, but he didn't. And I believe Ding believes he can do this.

They will be talking about this final for years to come. Ding has looked finished on more than one occasion. But there he is, still winning frames.
That's his third in a row. And in some style. A break of 103.

Quote MessageDing has matured, and we've witnessed that progress. Terry Griffiths is in his corner and Ding won five ranking events a couple of seasons ago. He knows the job in hand. He's ground his way back into this match.
Ding is on a break of 35. This could well be three in a row. Hands up who said this was over an hour ago?

Zander: Great Final. Great end to what has been a fabulous 17 days at the Home of Snooker.
Darryl: I'd love to see Ding Junhui pull this back, been the stand-out player all tournament. Great final this.
Alan Price: Ding is making Selby think now, by pulling another frame back. It's going to be close. What a final this is...
It's 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to Tottenham. Goals from firstly Harry Kane, who rounded Asmir Begovic, and now Son mean Spurs look to be taking the title race to next weekend at least.
It is nearing the end of the first half at Chelsea, you can follow all the action here.
It means the city of Leicester may not be celebrating the Premier League title-World Snooker Championship double tonight after all.
World Championship to stay at the Crucible until at least 2027
World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn tells the BBC about why the World Championship will be staying at the Crucible until at least 2027.
"I'm just so happy to get it done as I'm tired of people asking me 'are you going to take this to China',"says Hearn.
"I'm made up. This sport is back where it deserves to be and the players have to take a lot of credit. We are back as a major global sport. Sport is about history, quality of venue, everything. This place has the history and you can't ignore that."
Iain Duckworth: What a lovely heartwarming, tear-jerking interview with the legend Sir Steve!! Enjoy your well earned retirement!!
Paul Mitchell: Never thought I would be in tears watching Steve "Interesting" Davis. Legend.
Graeme Marsh: Touching interview with Steve Davis. My icon growing up as a young player. What a gentleman and a legend. He'll be missed.
Steve Davis retires after 38 years in the sport
Quote MessageIt's quite emotional [to hear Steve talking about his career], it's so unnatural to do what Steve did. It's an honour to have known him. When he was quiet and bashful he needed someone, but I've learnt more from this man in the subsequent years. All good things come to an end, there's no better front man than Steve for the sport. I wouldn't be here without him.
Barry Hearn, Chairman of World Snooker and Steve Davis's manager
Phil Verney: I've definitely got something in my eye listening to Steve Davis talk about his father.
Jennifer Szantai: I love Steve Davis!!!! When he talks about his dad I could cry xxx
Barca: Steve Davis interview. Wow. Tear shed.
Mark Selby 16-13 Ding Junhui
We may be witnessing the making of Ding Junhui here but during this mid-session interval, BBC Two are looking back at the remarkable 38 year career of Steve Davis. It's emotional for sure, as the six-time world champion talks about his father Bill, who passed away in March.
You can read about Steve's decision and his career here. Watch the footage now by pressing play at the top of this page.
It is still 0-0 at Stamford Bridge in the match between Chelsea and Tottenham. If it stays that way Leicester will win the title. That may well happen at the same time as Mark Selby becomes the world champion, if he does of course.
Mark Selby 16-13 Ding Junhui (0-108, Ding 70)
This could be one incredible final. Selby appeared to have one hand on the trophy when he led 16-11. He still only needs two, but Ding is staying alive and fighting hard.
Another decent break, this time a clearance of 70, means both players have taken two of the first four frames in the session.
Mark Selby 16-12 Ding Junhui
A long-range red from Selby rattles around the jaws of the pocket but, as you can see, it stays on the table. Ding is in a great position. Another frame for the Chinese?
