    Mark Selby 16-12 Ding Junhui

Once again in this final the referee has called for a phone to be turned off. It's angering many of you on twitter, and we have a suspicion it may be getting on Roy Keane's nerves too.

While manager of Ipswich Town in 2009, Keane was not too impressed when a reporter's phone went off during a news conference.

    Fancy watching that footage again?

Right, so any more phones going off at the Crucible and we will get Keane on the case.

Mark Selby's name is already on the World Championship trophy. Two more frames and it will be again.

But he leaves Ding a chance in the 29th frame as he is too short when trying to get out of a snooker. He leaves a sitter on and Ding dispatches the red with ease.

It's not so much about belief than it is hope. Ding Junhui understands he needs help from the balls and a bit of luck as well.

  5. Over? Not yet?published at 20:04 British Summer Time 2 May 2016

Mark Selby 16-12 Ding Junhui (0-87, Ding 73)

Five behind, with a maximum of seven to play, Ding could not make any mistakes and in the 28th frame he keeps his hopes alive. A break of 73 seals the frame.

However, he looked good for a century and that would have been the 86th of the tournament. That would've equalled the record number, along with the total from 2015. But he missed, so it didn't.

So now Ding is four behind with a maximum of six to play. That still seems a huge, huge task, especially when up against the best player in the world.

Ding is 14-0 up in the third frame of the evening and Selby, after lining up the shot for nearly three minutes, leaves the red on. It just about scrapes into the middle for a hugely relieved Ding.

"From expecting a late-night finish, there are now question marks among journalists in the media room as to whether we will see a mid-session interval and fingers are in frantic action on keyboards.

"Selby has taken the first two frames on the final session of the season and is now just two from victory.

"With his experience and know-how, it looks a forgone conclusion."

  10. Last year's champion is at the Crucible - and he wants the carpetpublished at 19:52 British Summer Time 2 May 2016

    Stuart BinghamImage source, BBC Sport

The reigning champion's title is slowly coming to an end. But Stuart Bingham is watching from the Crucible and told John Parrott: "I've got, hopefully, a few more frames to hold on to my title. The last 12 months have been fantastic, I'll remember it for the rest of my life."

Bingham, who beat Shaun Murphy this time last year, was full of praise for Ding Junhui who has "done well to get back from 6-0 down. He's so gritty and determined to win".

There's a ulterior motive for Bingham to be in Sheffield tonight though: "I've just bought a new house and I thought it would be a good idea to take half the carpet back with me from the Crucible for the snooker room."

Last year a trophy, this year a carpet. The ups and downs of being a snooker player.

  12. The perfect evening for Selby... so farpublished at 19:46 British Summer Time 2 May 2016

Mark Selby 16-11 Ding Junhui (67-60, Ding 60)

Ouch. That has to hurt and, by the look of Ding's face, it does. He led 60-31 in this frame, Selby doubled a rather fortunate / excellent red into the middle pocket and then it all comes down to the black with the scores level at 60-60.

It is a thin cut, but Selby gets it spot on with the black straight through the middle of the pocket. A nod of the head from Selby. This evening could not have gone any better for him. Played two, won two. Two more for the title.

That slightly miscued opportunity for Ding Junhui on the red has let Mark Selby in. After a couple of safety shots, Selby plays the double off the far cushion, potting the red into the left middle. Excellent play, Selby now favourite for the frame.

Liam Hargrave-Gibson: Ding could set this up to be an exciting final!! It's going to be a long night full of exciting snooker hopefully.

Little Frank: At this stage in the match, it matters far more when Ding breaks down, than when Selby breaks down.

Jay Shaw: Looks as though Ding's race may be run. Selby can wrap up the title having rarely left second gear over the past 17 days

This frame has swung one way and then the other, after Selby made 31, before Ding knocked in an effort of 60. He still needs to do a bit more in this one and he knows Selby won't make it easy for him.

As you'll see below: first Selby will his long red, before Ding puts himself on his way to 60 break.

Ding may be weakening, and Selby may be getting stronger. A sloppy attempt from Ding leaves another chance for Selby with a clear shot on a red. The pain could be getting worse for those in China watching on.
