    Frame 11: Selby 7-3 O'Sullivan

That's a bit loose. O'Sullivan leaves one on and shows his disgust with this grimace.

It is the kind of look Eric Cantona used to give his team-mates when they misplaced a pass. He is not impressed.

    Frame 11: Selby 7-3 O'Sullivan

After that tricky safety attempt, O'Sullivan leaves a red on, but Selby soon gifts the table back to O'Sullivan.

It is his 41st birthday tomorrow and that is a bit of a present. But wait, just as I am typing that O'Sullivan gives control back to Selby.

We are still in the early stages of the frame though and safety fans, time to rejoice, we have another safety battle coming.

Tricky. This is what faces O'Sullivan after Mark Selby pots a long red on the left-hand side of the table but then gets no luck with position.

Remember this from earlier in the tournament?

Took Mark Williams and Liam Highfield 21 shots to resolve this tricky situation.

Five minutes of their lives they'll never get back.

    Ken Doherty

Ronnie has been frozen out in this match. He just needed to get his arm going and get a few pots so he'll be happy with that frame.

But Selby is going to be hard to beat. He's on top of his game.

  8. Here comes the fightback?published at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2016

    Frame 10: Selby 7-3 O'Sullivan (0-144, O'Sullivan breaks of 51 and 80)

After his break of 51, O'Sullivan plays safe and draws a couple of fouls from Mark Selby.

On his third attempt he leaves a red into the middle and O'Sullivan takes advantage with a clearance of 80 to win his first frame since frame three.

    The fightback is on. Maybe.

G: Selby safety play & long potting success has been unbelievably good today. Outdoing Ronnie in all departments.

Colin: Don't think Hawk-Eye could beat Selby in this form. Crazy good!

Jamie S: Would love to see a Ronnie special here.

    Frame 10: Selby 7-2 O'Sullivan

Some days you just get the feeling it will not be going your way.

O'Sullivan rattles off a break of 51 in next to no time in the 10th frame, but, following a superb pot on the blue, he gets no luck with the cueball wedged next to the black, forcing the Essex man to play safe. Very unlucky and deserved better.

    Frame 10: Selby 7-2 O'Sullivan

In the last six frames, O'Sullivan has only picked up 50 points. For those that follow these things, Selby has scored 489 points in the same period.

What O'Sullivan needs is some time at the table, and that is exactly what he gets in the early stages of the 10th frame.

I don't think Selby's worried about what Ronnie is going to throw at him.

It's tough for Ronnie O'Sullivan. He's up against an animal. It's an uphill battle from here.

    Frame 9: Selby 7-2 O'Sullivan (65-0, Selby break of 56)

O'Sullivan does not get anything at all and concedes the frame at the next opportunity. It is now 7-2 to Selby and the trophy is close for the man from Leicester, for O'Sullivan it seems a long, long way away.

    Frame 9: Selby 6-2 O'Sullivan

Another excellent long red from Selby takes him closer to the finish line in this frame. O'Sullivan comes to the table needing two snookers. It will takes some saving this one.

    Frame 9: Selby 6-2 O'Sullivan

Selby cannot wrap up the frame in one visit, although he leads by 56 with 75 on the table. He runs out of position when potting a red with a rest, but the cue ball clips two other reds to deny a potential potting attempt on the pink.

Still, a decent start to the evening for the reigning world champion.

    Frame 9: Selby 6-2 O'Sullivan

The first ball of the evening session has just been potted, and it is a pretty special one as Selby downs a long red and gets good position on the yellow. An early chance to dish out some more punishment.
