As always we want your thoughts on the action.

GaryOnCue: Fantastic final ahead of us. Both players capable of a title-winning performance, of course, but Selby slight favourite for me.

Jamie Saczak: Hoping for a Ronnie win but feel like Selby will get the better of him. 11/8 for a Selby win is a very decent price.

Topher Smith: All set for an absolute cracker of a final!

  7. Will O'Sullivan lose a UK final for the first time?published at 13:07 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2016

    Shamoon Hafez
BBC Sport at the York Barbican

Writers and organisers breathed a sigh of relief last night in York as Marco Fu threatened to throw a spanner in the works before Ronnie O'Sullivan's stunning final-frame century set up a dream UK Championship final against Mark Selby.

The world champion and world number one had a comfortable passage through after a 6-2 win over Shaun Murphy in the semi-finals, and there are plenty of side plots in this showpiece contest.

The 'Jester from Leicester' now has the opportunity to become the first player since 2001 to hold the world and UK titles in the same year, a feat last achieved by...O'Sullivan.

'The Rocket' himself is looking at making some history by equalling Steve Davis's record of six UK titles.

O'Sullivan has never lost a UK final in five appearances, but that was also the case in 2014 when he reached the World Championship final. The man to beat him then? You guessed it.

  8. The route to the finalpublished at 13:05 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2016

So how have we got here?

Ronnie O'Sullivan breezed through the first five rounds, but, as we mentioned, had to fight hard to see off Marco Fu.

Mark Selby has also had to survive a scare, against John Higgins in the quarter-final, to secure his place in the showcase match.

Reigning world champion Mark Selby's progress into the final was more routine, as he secured a 6-2 victory over Shaun Murphy.

  11. O'Sullivan has to dig deeppublished at 12:56 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2016

O'Sullivan has never lost a UK Championship final, and victory at the Barbican today would mean he equals Steve Davis' record of six titles, between 1980 and 1987.

But he had to dig deep last night to move into the final.

He was trailing 5-4 to Hong Kong's Marco Fu before taking the last two frames, including a 130 break in the decider, to reach the final.

Relive the action and watch five of the best pots from that match here.
