    Frame 22: Selby 10-11 Higgins

Into frame 22, and Higgins has a 19-0 lead, but Selby is taking the next shot. Like a few frames already today, the black looks out of commission, close to the side cushion. Could be another battle coming up.

    Frame 22: Selby 10-11 Higgins

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion at The Crucible

Both players are forgetting how to just play. What they normally do is just play. It’s become a bit of a slug fest.

If I had words of wisdom for both players it would be to release the shackles because if anyone can get a bit of momentum they can win a few frames here.

  4. 'Someone will break free'published at 16:31 British Summer Time 1 May 2017

    Frame 22: Selby 10-11 Higgins

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion at The Crucible

Now it’s just got a bit nervy, you can see full well why it’s got like this. Mark Selby knows how to play this game.

The players have great respect for each other. It’s not going to be like this all the time, I can’t see that happening, someone will eventually break free of this.

    Frame 21: Selby 10-11 Higgins

Ken Doherty aims to recreate one of those 'Shot of the Championship' options - Shaun Murphy's trickshot-style pot against Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Doherty tries his luck on the practice table to recreate the shot, with John Higgins watching on.

Steve York‏: This snooker is a great watch. I really enjoy the grindy, somewhat error filled matches. Good stuff.

This third session is like moving day in golf and sets the tone for the evening. Both players are trying not to make a mistake and it's hard snooker.

    Frame 21 Selby 10-11 Higgins (70-40)

It was the longest frame of the match, and now it is over.

Mark Selby started the day 7-10 behind, but has taken the mini-session 3-1 with Higgins now having an overall 11-10 lead.

    Frame 21: Selby 9-11 Higgins

Higgins leaves the yellow on. That should be the frame for Selby and that should be 11-10. 43-40 to Selby at the moment.

    Frame 21: Selby 9-11 Higgins

After that long red, Selby downs the blue and now is back in front, by a 43-40 margin.

He opts to go safe though with only the colours remaining.

    Frame 21: Selby 9-11 Higgins

We are at the 40-minute mark for this frame, and there is still one red on the table. Higgins 40-37 up, but he's left a long red tempter.

    Frame 21: Selby 9-11 Higgins

As this frame ticks past the half-hour mark, I've still got no idea who is going to win it. Higgins is 40-33 up, the two remaining reds are close to the cushion, with the black stopping any possible pot.

    Frame 21: Selby 9-11 Higgins

This is a tight end to the first mini-session of the day. Selby had a 33-0 lead, Higgins pulled back 28 points.

This could be a massive frame. 12-9 or 11-10? We will find out soon enough.

Meanwhile, back on the table, Selby's dangerous looking break comes to an abrupt halt far earlier than he would have liked or expected.

He still has a 33-0 lead though, in the last frame before a small pause in action.
