    Frame 18: Higgins 5-12 Trump

John Higgins is looking smooth as silk at the moment. He started like this on Sunday but then stalled badly in the evening session as the Judd Trump juggernaut took control.

He's going for the maximum here and is already up to 81.

    Frame 18: Higgins 5-12 Trump

Hello. John Higgins gets the first chance of the frame and knocks in a long red to the bottom right bin.

That looked easy. Is this the fast start he is looking for?

He's racing away with this. Red, black, red, black, red, black.

If he hits a 147 here £50,000 is coming his way.

    Frame 18: Higgins 5-12 Trump

Yes he does Stephen. This is his 20th ranking final having won 10 of his previous 19.

It's also his best season ever....as well as demolishing Ronnie O'Sullivan in the Masters final he's, also picked up the Northern Ireland Open and World Grand Prix.

If he wins today he'll become the first player to win the Masters and World titles in the same season since Mark Williams in 2003. The only other players to complete that double are Davis and Hendry.

    Exalted company indeed.

Now John Higgins is clearly looking for some inspiration this afternoon but how pumped will he be from his walk on music, 'Diamonds in the Mud by Gerry Cinnamon?

Well the answer to that is he won't be because he's switched to Deniece Williams - Let's Hear It for the Boy. Will that help him gain the impetus?

It's not exactly Eye of the Tiger or No Easy Way Out from the Rocky movies back in the day but each to their own. No change for Judd Trump who came out to Martin Garrix's, High on Life.

But what would you choose to stroll out to at the Crucible? All suggestions are welcome.

Personally I'd do go something like a reworked version of Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Fanfare for the Common Man, or maybe Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Four-time winner John Higgins, the runner-up in the past two finals, is aiming to match Ronnie O'Sullivan by claiming a fifth title but the 43-year-old Scot will need to produce a stunning comeback to halt Judd Trump.

Trump is going for his first world title having lost to Higgins in the 2011 final.

He will complete the Triple Crown of winning all of snooker's top three events, having won the UK Championship in 2011, if he can clinch another six frames.

Talk is already whirling around The Crucible as to whether we will finish this final with a session to spare.

Trump's stunning display on the opening day, winning eight frames in a row, means he only needs to win six this afternoon to lift the trophy.

Bad news for the punters who paid over £100 to watch the evening session, they'll be witnessing a Dennis Taylor trickshot masterclass instead.

I can't wait for this. It seems I'm not the only one.

The big question is how long will it last?

Judd Trump produced a scintillating display to open a 12-5 lead over John Higgins on Sunday in the World Championship final at the Crucible.

The players were tied at 4-4 after a first session featuring four centuries and three further breaks of 50 or more.

Higgins started the second session with a ton, but then a devastating show from Trump helped him to eight frames in a row and a couple more century breaks.
