  1. 'An unexpected bonus'published at 21:37 British Summer Time 3 May 2021

    Frame 31: Selby 17-14 Murphy

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

That was an unexpected bonus for Shaun with Mark Selby missing one, but what a brilliant response. It's not easy if you're not seeing anything but Mark gave him the opportunity and it shows how well Shaun is still cueing to take the chance.

He’s sending a message out to Mark Selby – you give me a chance. I’m going to take it.

    Frame 31: Selby 17-14 Murphy

Back-to-back centuries then, as Shaun Murphy follows Mark Selby's ton with one of his own, a lovely break of exactly 100.

    Frame 31: Selby 17-13 Murphy

This is as impressive, given the situation and pressure he's under, as Mark Selby's break in the previous frame.

Shaun Murphy on 70 and counting, the frame is safe.

    Frame 31: Selby 17-13 Murphy

As Steve Davis alluded to, Shaun Murphy is in no-mistake territory here.

He's started off here in that very mold, several lovely delicate shots fashioning a potentially frame-winning opportunity.

    Frame 31: Selby 17-13 Murphy

Drama to start the 31st frame.

Shaun Murphy cuts a red into the middle pocket. But he doesn't. It looks all the world that it's in but somehow it stays on the lip.

Mark Selby pounces but misses two shots later. Nerves?

  7. 'Perfect matchplay snooker'published at 21:24 British Summer Time 3 May 2021

    Frame 31: Selby 17-13 Murphy

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

That was the perfect frame of matchplay snooker, he played cat and mouse at the start, forced his opponent into an error and then cleared up. You can't play much better than that.

  8. 'No breathing room left'published at 21:23 British Summer Time 3 May 2021

    Frame 31: Selby 17-13 Murphy

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

It may be too late for Shaun. Shaun has played well – how can he play unmissable snooker and not give Mark Selby a chance?

That last frame, Shaun played as well as he could to contain the situation and Mark picked out that red into the middle pocket.

At this level the opportunism of both players is great so you expect frames to go back and forth – he’s got no breathing room left.

  9. 100 runs

100 for Selbypublished at 21:20 British Summer Time 3 May 2021

    Frame 30: Selby 17-13 Murphy

You won't see a better clearance of a snooker table than that.

It's 120 but as good a 147. Potted every ball on the table when they were all over the place.

    Utterly brilliant.

  10. Selby one frame away from world titlepublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 3 May 2021

    Frame 30: Selby 17-13 Murphy

    Immaculate is the right word.

Mark Selby has played the perfect frame of snooker.

Shaun Murphy needs snookers - in both frame and match.

  11. 'Immaculate frame'published at 21:16 British Summer Time 3 May 2021

    Frame 30: Selby 16-13 Murphy

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

Mark Selby has not put a foot wrong this frame. It's been an immaculate frame.

In the tactical battle he didn’t put a foot wrong, the pot he went for was risk-free.

When he's playing this well he's almost unplayable.

    Frame 30: Selby 16-13 Murphy

The hacks will be a bit happier now, Steve.

Mark Selby is dispatching the free reds one by one although his lead isn't massive because he's taking mostly low value colours in baulk.

    Frame 30: Selby 16-13 Murphy

    Steve Sutcliffe
BBC Sport reporter at the Crucible Theatre

This rather tactical frame isn't doing any of my colleagues in the press room any favours for getting their copy across to their newspaper editors.

There are one or two twitchy people in here with the deadline for getting copy across for the first editions of newspapers being around 22:00 BST.

    That could be tight.

    Frame 30: Selby 16-13 Murphy

Eventually, a half-chance presents itself to Mark Selby, who can take on a tough, but straight, red to the middle with little risk if he misses.

But he pots it - staring straight down the shaft of his cue at Shaun Murphy's chair in doing so - and he's on the black.

    Frame 30: Selby 16-13 Murphy

Amazing the concentration levels these players are able to put in after such a marathon slog already. I'm exhausted just from watching.

They're treating every shot as if it's their last, not wanting to give the other an inch.

    Frame 30: Selby 16-13 Murphy

Safety central at the beginning of this first frame after the interval.

A couple of reds have been struck into the baulk area so the tactical battle is centred in and around the pack of reds.

Both players just waiting for the other to give them a sniff.

  17. 'A joyous moment for the country'published at 20:58 British Summer Time 3 May 2021

Snooker supremo Barry Hearn has been talking to BBC Sport about the joy of having a full capacity crowd at the Crucible:

"Great players feed off the energy of the spectators, they harness that energy, and the fist-pump has come back because the crowd want to see that they care.

"Very seldom have I seen an atmosphere like this in my 40 years or so at the Crucible - it's a statement that the country is back, we're coming through this and there's light at the end of the tunnel.

"It's a joyous moment not just for sport but for everyone in the country."

Make that a one-minute warning, Steve!

They couldn't wait to get back out here.

Here we go - the final session of the 2021 World Championship.

There's lots of background noise from just outside the press room as the presentation party and one or two famous former players gather for a quick natter.

The BBC's Ken Doherty is amongst it all, looking very dapper though I was half expecting to see him in bow tie and waistcoat mode after his chat with Judd Trump about dress codes on Sunday.
