  1. The fastest British womanpublished at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

In August, Dina Asher-Smith became the first British women to win three gold medals at the same European Championships when she won the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay events. The 22-year-old athlete was completely dominant and is now being tipped to win a medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Not only did she complete the sprint triple, she set a new British women's record of 10.85 seconds in the 100m final.

It made Dina the first woman since German Katrin Krabbe in 1990 to win three European sprint titles at one championships.

"It was just incredible to be there," says Golden Boot winner Harry Kane. "It was quite emotional watching that video, it was such a whirlwind."

"We had that real connection with the fans. We didn't really know what was going on back here but we heard it was mental.

"We just wanted make the nation proud and hopefully we did that."

Manager Gareth Southgate echoes Kane's sentiments: "I'm incredibly proud of the team.

"There was a disconnection with the fans for a long period and that was understandable.

"Huge credit to the players, they played with great pride, great style and I think people really appreciated how they conducted themselves and represented their country."

Harry Kane is a goalscoring king but he is a notoriously slow burner in the Premier League. In his six seasons playing in the top-flight with Tottenham, Kane has struggled to score in the month of August but in 2018 broke that curse. Against Fulham, he scored his first ever August Premier League goal, in what was his 15th game in the competition during that month. Turning tides!

  13. 'Semi-final defeat was painful'published at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

France flew 10,308 kilometres within 36 days to win the World Cup in Russia this summer. They scored 14 goals in the process too, and an estimated global audience of three billion people tuned in to watch them throughout the tournament.

There was everything from half-n-half scarves, flags, hats, banners and tattoos in Russia but hot dog sellers were in heaven after they sold half a million of them in the stadiums.

For Gareth Southgate and his men, a semi-final defeat to Croatia would end the hot-dog-crazy adventure but England fans went home with new songs in their voice and a new love for the Three Lions in their hearts.

  14. Golden Boot for Kanepublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2018

England football captain Harry Kane won the Golden Boot after finishing as the World Cup's top scorer with six goals in Russia.

It coincided with England’s most successful tournament in 28 years. Kane led the team to the semi-finals, where they were beaten by Croatia but not before they recorded a first-ever penalty shootout victory over Colombia in the last 16.

Kane is the second Englishman to win the Golden Boot after Gary Lineker in 1986 and he also became the first Englishman since Tommy Lawton in 1939 to score in six consecutive internationals.

Comedian David Baddiel is a big Chelsea fan apparently and has followed the team for almost 50 years.

He says he started supporting the London club because of his big brother, Ivor.

While watching his first Chelsea match as an 11-year-old, it was actually Crystal Palace's Peter Taylor who caught Baddiel's eye.

Frank Skinner on the other hand, is a West Brom fan. He joins Adrian Chiles and Lenny Henry as those who regularly attend The Hawthorns.
