Here's our second contender...
It's been a busy year in athletics with the World Championships taking place in Doha. American Christian Coleman took the men's 100m crown ahead of compatriot Justin Gatlin and the USA team dominated the relay events too.
For Great Britain, it was all about the women. Dina Asher-Smith came second to legendary Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the 100m but came out on top in the 200m. The Jamaican team pipped Britain to the gold medal in the 4x100m relay.
Katarina Johnson-Thompson added a second gold for Great Britain in the heptathlon. It meant the team finished with five medals overall and sat sixth in the medal table.
And despite the crowds being small over in Qatar, we got to enjoy heart-warming moments like this interview with Asher-Smith back home!
Now it's time for the first '2019 in review' VT looking back at some of the best moments at the start of the year.

Raheem Sterling speaking to BBC One: "First of all, good evening everyone, hello Gary. Winning trophies drives me on. This wonderful club has a great mentality and strives me to win, that's what drives me.
"It (racism in the media) was an issue that I thought since I was 17, there were constant headlines about me that I deemed unfair. I could see in stadiums people had thoughts about me so I wanted my voice to be heard and to speak up.
"It's not just about me to make a difference, it's a collective. Rascim is about education and learning about people's upbringings."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on Raheem Sterling: "Always I will be grateful to him, he's inspired other people. Three seasons ago, he was a little bit shy but how he feels handsome. He's special, his mentality to win the game and help the team."
Manchester City teammate Kyler Walker: "I call him Martin Luther King in training because he had a dream and he's lived it. He can be the best player in the world in my opinion and there's not a nicer guy that can happen too."
Sterling's Manchester City teammate Kyle Walker, his coach Pep Guardiola and former England striker Ian Wright are discussing his impressive year.
Walker starts off by saying he was "proud" of Sterling for coming out and talking about racism. "It's just me being Raheem," says Sterling.
"He was a little bit shy, I would say. But now he is handsome!" says Pep. Sterling laughs that off.
"He can be the best player in the world in my opinion," says Walker.
Speaking of Manchester City...
Here's our first contender for Sports Personality of the Year 2019 - Raheem Sterling.
The England international had an impressive season with City, winning an unprecedented domestic treble.
He was named as Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year too and was praised for his public stance against racism.
And in 2019 he has scored eight and assisted nine goals in nine appearances for England - captaining the side against the Netherlands in June.
The Premier League is always dramatic isn't it? We are looking back on another incredible season now.
Last season's title race between Manchester City and Liverpool was record-breaking and exhilarating.
Vincent Kompany, City's former skipper, is talking us through the big moments and THAT goal against Leicester City which essentially sealed the title for his team on the penultimate weekend. A special moment!

Gareth Thomas on his 500-mile bike challenge: "Physically it's been tough. But I've just carried people's stories with me and how Sport Relief has given them the opportunity to get their lives back on track. Every day I've carried their stories with me and it's kept me on track."
Gary Lineker has just dropped a Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy joke. Brilliant!
We are now looking back on the historic treble treble that Celtic secured earlier this year. James McAvoy - aka Charles Xavier - with the smooth-talking voiceover on the VT.
They won all three domestic trophies for the third consecutive season, finishing it off with victory over Hearts in the Scottish Cup final.
Pretty impressive, eh?
What better way to kick the show off than discussing the Scottish boys...
Graeme Swann and Dame Kelly Holmes are with Gareth Thomas on his bike now. Hopefully they make it in time! Cracking effort.
