There’s a warm-up act on before the ceremony begins to get the crowd going. It’s time for the final song before things kick off. Which tune?
The Proclaimers of course. And it’s working! It’s lively in here.
Four minutes to be precise, Matthew. You better go and suit up! Paul Gascoigne might lend you his purple blazer...

There are just the last few stragglers at the bars now. The ceremony begins shortly.
Eoin Morgan likes Steven Gerrard.
That's it. That's the tweet.

The main batch of 10,000 tickets for tonight’s show sold out in just FIVE minutes.
It is taking place at the new P&J Live Arena in Aberdeen, which will be a stopping point on Elton John's tour next year.
As we step into Christmas, this will be the second time the awards have been held in Scotland after Glasgow staged the event five years ago.

Main award nominee Alun Wyn Jones was very keen to stress the importance of his team-mates in his and Wales’ success this year.
He says one or two of them have had a bit of fun at his expense with their ‘encouragement’ over the last few weeks.
Jones admitted these nights aren’t his cup of tea and he might need some “Dutch courage”.

Pioneering rugby star Gareth Thomas has been taking on a gruelling 500 mile bike ride from Cardiff to Aberdeen. The challenge? To deliver the Sports Personality of the Year trophy to tonight's live awards show. He's hoping to arrive any time between 20:30 and 21:00 GMT.
Gareth is cycling on his trusty road bike and he’s been joined by friends along the way too. You can follow his journey live here.

Solheim Cup captain Catriona Matthew
BBC Red Button
Golfer Catriona Matthew on Europe's Solheim Cup victory: "It's fantastic to be here in Aberdeen. It's amazing to represent Europe. To get the 12 players all together from different countries. We come together so well and what an amazing finish it was.
"I still can't quite believe it. I have watched it back a few times. It's a fairytale finish. If somebody had written that you wouldn't have believed it."
There were two red carpets earlier. Because, why not? Paul Gascoigne was on top form as usual.
Check out the smart suit too!

Contenders for Sports Personality of the Year often do their best to attend - although sometimes other commitments mean they are interviewed by a live link.
The time delay, location and peripheral characters can make for entertaining viewing as when 2017 winner Sir Mo Farah's kids playfully interrupted his chat.
Of this year's six-strong shortlist, I know cricketer Ben Stokes will be here as I chatted to him in passing last night. Athletes Dina Asher-Smith and Katarina Johnson-Thompson, and rugby union player Alun wyn Jones are also expected in Aberdeen.
Raheem Sterling will be more than 500 miles away - as Manchester City's match at Arsenal finishes about half an hour before the show starts. You can expect to see him talk from the Emirates Stadium.
And it is understood F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, who grew up in Stevenage, is gearing up for a festive get-together. All will become clear during the show.

A bit more from Doddie Weir. He says receiving the Helen Rollason tonight will be the “best Christmas present ever”.
He also says he “can’t wait” to see Lewis Capaldi perform later.
The suit is ever better close up, by the way.
Dina Asher-Smith - SPOTY nominee
BBC Red Button
Sports Personality of the Year nominee Dina Asher-Smith on BBC's Red Button: "It's incredible to nominated, it feels absolutely fantastic. I'm a bit nervous I've got to say. I'm sure it'll be an amazing night. I'm honored to just be part of the top six.
"I haven't come down to earth yet, I'm still in disbelief, I keep thinking did that happen. Even when you say I'm a double world champion, it still takes a minute to connect that that's me now. I don't want to stop, I want to keep pushing and running faster and hopefully go for bigger things in Tokyo.
"I didn't feel any expectation or pressure. While I knew I was the favourite, you still have to go out there and run the race like I have in the past. You're only the favourite because of your past performances so you have to perform at that level. I was probably more nervous that I was going to go out there and not run quickly.
"I don't think I'm ever going to get used to the attention but it's been great."
There can only be one winner and these celebrities have theirs. See who the likes of Ed Sheeran, Geraint Thomas, Gordon Ramsay, Stormzy and Ellen White are rooting for.

World Sport Star of the Year Eliud Kipchoge
BBC Red Button
World Sport Star of the Year Eliud Kipchoge on BBC's Red Button, speaking about breaking the two-hour marathon mark: "It was a special moment. Crossing the line and knowing I had made that achievement. It was a big dream I have had for a long time."
On realising the global impact: "I didn't really. There was a billion people who watched and I was really grateful and shocked by it.
"I tried in 2017, at the start, to turn it into a project. I tried but was short by five seconds. I came back again and thought about what happened and what was required. Three years down the line, I did it. I am a proud man. I am happy to be nominated also across all the sports men and women in this world - across all the disciplines."
