But the light is so poor in this commentary box that, like Ana Ivanovic, I have zipped up my trackie top of protest.

We will be back to cover all the thrills and spills of a Monday made manic by rain delays.

Have a restful middle Sunday and see you on the other side.

Clijsters' father Lei played in two World Cups for Belgium - including their run to the semi-finals in 1986. He lost his battle with cancer in 2009.

There is no stopping them out on Court six and eight.

Last year's semi-finalist Jerzy Janowicz is in deep trouble 4-1 down in the decider against Tommy Robredo.

Tenth seed Kei Nishikori is locked at 2-2 in his own fifth set with Simone Bolelli.

Madison Keys, a set down, is battling on gamely, locked at 5-5 in the second against Yaroslav Shvedova.

In the end, Ana Ivanovic stomps her feet enough to get her way. Sabine Lisicki asks her if she has had enough for the day as she levels up on the scoreboard. She has and despite the best efforts of the courtside official, and the chanting crowd, that is the lot for the evening.

While Serena lets off steam in the press conference, Ana Ivanovic is venting on Court One.

After losing the first set, the Serb zips up her tracksuit top and suggest to the umpire that it is time to call it a night because of the failing light.

Bear in mind that Marin Cilic completed his win over Tomas Berdych at gone 21:30 BST last night.

Unsurprisingly the referee tells her to get up and get out there when she arrives on court.

"That 18th Grand Slam is definitely something significant in my mind that I will just keep going for.

"I suck right now at doubles. I'm playing so badly I told Venus the other day that she should get a new partner."

  7. Williams out of Wimbledonpublished at 20:52 British Summer Time 28 June 2014

"I think everyone pretty much plays that match of their lives against me.

"I think that every time I step on court I need to play as well as I can. It is never easy being in my shoes.

"I know that I can do better and have the potential to still be on top and that is what motivates me I guess."

"I just tried and it didn't really work out," said Williams after her 1-6 6-3 6-4 loss to Alize Cornet. "I thought I was swinging freely, but perhaps I will have to go back and see.

"She kept her unforced errors really low and I made a few too many, she played really well today.

"I don't think I can put my feelings into context. I felt as though I was playing pretty well and was working really hard coming into the event, sometimes it happens and maybe all that work is for tomorrow rather than today."

Right now, over on Court One, Sabine Lisicki, last year's runner-up, is up against former world number one Ana Ivanovic.

    All square as it stands.

Not quite sure how we are set on Centre Court. An extra couple of chairs have been brought out to beneath the umpire's chair, suggesting a spot of doubles might be in the offing. No sign of any actual players though and they are rather crucial to the whole gig.

A smattering of spectators are still in the stands watching the Centre Court grass grow.

The Wimbledon wildcard committee's faith in Nick Kyrgios has been fully justified by the 19-year-old Australian.

Indeed Jiri Vesely, ranked 68 to Kyrgios's 144, is another wildcard. But Kygios's 26 aces and 73% first serve percentage helped wrestle the match his way.

Nadal next and the biggest match of his life.
