  2. GAME AND THIRD SETpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Never a doubt. Nadal holds at pace, and he now has that businesslike march of a man on confident mission. Possible mood-lifter for Rosolites: two years ago, Nadal won the fouth set of their match 6-2 and looked to have taken control, only to ship the deciding fifth 6-4. you never know. Although you probably do. But still.

Rosol holds with minimal fuss. As the players rest on their chairs, punters all round take the opportunity to selfie it up.

And so Rosol must hold serve to stay in this third set. Barely a seat free around Centre, and with Britain's Heather Watson and Roger Federer still to come, don't expect any exodus outside a mass restroom rush between matches.

  5. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

He battled back from two sets down to win tie-breaks in the third and fourth sets, but French men's 24th seed Gael Monfils has been beaten by Jiri Vesely.

Monfils hit more aces (23), more winners (71) and fewer unforced errors (21), but Vesely's colossal first serve is such a dangerous weapon.

He struck the fastest serve of the championship so far during the match on court 12, and he's safely through to the third round of Wimbledon for the first time.

For Monfils, who argued with the umpire during his first round win over Malek Jaziri, an eventful Wimbledon 2014 is over.

  6. Postpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

"Nadal looks much more comfortable, he finally mentally recognises he is making that kind of impact he wanted to at the start of the match. He sees Rosol as more fragile but he is certainly still dangerous, like a heavyweight boxer. He has always got that puncher's chance of knocking you down again."

  7. Gael Monfils beaten by Jiri Vaselypublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Gael Monfils battled back from two sets adrift, but once he got back to parity proceeded to let the momentum slip back to Jiri Vesely.

Such is the way with Gael.

Downton Abbey actress Michelle Dockery in a posh-off with Pippa Middleton in the Royal Box - you can now follow that contest on the Red Button. Rosol clinging on to his own serve, and that is a majestic running forehand down the line. Lesser men would retire on that shot.

The first hint of weariness creeping into Rosol's game as Nadal holds with muscular efficiency. How to plot your way back from here, when you've given your all, been a set and a break up and yet find the contest sliding through your fingers?

  10. Postpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

    Sam Sheringham
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"Laura Robson is among a healthy British contingent on Court 11 cheering on Ross Hutchins and Colin Fleming as they start their doubles campaign against Spain's David Marrero and Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay.

"Fleming doesn't even flinch when a mis-hit Cuevas smash thuds into his side. That's the spirit."

He might be missing with a few, but he's also still landing enough to hold his serve - he won't die wondering, long-limbed Lukas.

Monica Puig:, external Bazinga!!!! #DrSheldonCooper #BigBangTheory

I initially thought the Puerto Rican world number 52 had met up with Mr Cooper from nineties American sitcom Hangin' with Mr Cooper. Sadly I was about 20 years out of date

Nadal on cruise control now, which is a normal athlete's version of foot to the floor. Rosol missing now more than he's hitting with those clattering groundstrokes, and that spells trouble for our Czech mate.

  14. Nadal breakspublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Lukas Rosol steps up to the oche. And finds himself 0-30 down. A clubbing backhand pulls one point back, but the Czech twangs the top of the wire. 15-40. Two break points to Nadal.

Oohh! Rosol pumps a forehand, sending the ball flashing through a corridor of space. Is it long? Nope, Hawk-Eye reveals it clipped the back of the line.

Rosol redeems the second as well. And a third from deuce. Nadal is pushing his buttons now though and on a fourth the Rosol sledgehammer forehand is swallowed by the net.

Nadal a break to the good and is that the skids slipped under Rosol?

Rafa still plucking away at his nose, ears and appendix before every point. It doesn't seem to settle him before he double-faults for 40-30, but the Spaniard gets the job done.

    On we roll...

  16. Get involvedpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Greg Handelaar:, external Nadal making Rosol wait every point. Gamesmanship. Rosol should just serve irrespective of whether Nadal is ready.

John Robertson:, external Nadal always seems to maintain high 1st serve percentages when he needs them!

Sir 4th of July:, external It's almost like Rafa wants to play 4 set matches to get in to his rhythm...remember the French Open?

  17. Postpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

What has Rosol got left in the tank? Logic would tell you that Nadal will now open his legs and show his class, but Rosol is still blowing like a mighty wind - forehand like the hammer of Thor, and he gets his nose in front. For now.

  18. Postpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

A five set, ding-dong battle on Court 17, but world number 126 Simone Bolelli broke Philipp Kohlschreiber in the 22nd seed's final service game before serving out and taking the match 4-6 6-4 6-4 2-6 7-5. Bolelli hit fewer aces, more double faults and more unforced errors across the clash, so how did he win?

  19. Ivanovic into third roundpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

    Tracy Austin
Two-time Grand Slam champion on BBC TV

"That was very impressive by Ana today. She showed nice versatility but was very aggressive-minded and kept the error count low and she went from strength to strength. It was a decisive win and she should feel comfortable leaving the court."

  20. Philipp Kohlschreiber beaten by Bolellipublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Philipp Kohlschreiber fell victim to Andy Murray in five sets at the French Open and the German 22nd seed has fallen in similar style, albeit a little earlier, to Simone Bolelli at Wimbledon.
