  1. Kerber breakspublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

It's not the start Watson would have hoped for, the Briton immediately finding herself facing three break points. Watson, who lost just five games in her first round win, saves the first, but can do nothing about the second and relinquishes the game.

    Marion Bartoli
2013 Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 live

"Watson's main asset is believing. She has to stay strong. Kerber won't have 10 aces a set. She is not a Serena. She has to get in early and have a go. The crowd will be behind her.

"You will never walk alone as a British player here. You have to use this aspect. The year I played best at the French Open was the year I used the crowd. This is what Andy Murray has done so well here."

"The audience can certainly help you but I believe Heather has to zone out every single thing and play one point at a time."

Heather Watson and Angelique Kerber are knocking up on Centre Court as the sun creeps out from behind the clouds. This is the first time they have played each other.

  8. Reactionpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Rafael Nadal after his victory: "I knew I had to keep fighting, waiting for my moment. I made a few mistakes but he was serving very well then the second set was very important. Against Rosol two sets down it would have been very dangerous.

"I never play for revenge, every match is a different match. Today was another match I try to win. My goal was not Rosol it is to play well in the tournament. There was a lot of tension but I think I had a good answer and I think I finished the match playing great."

Rafael Nadal hit fewer aces and more double faults than Lukas Rosol, but the Spaniard ultimately benefited from his opponent's game disintegrating. Czech Rosol's unforced error count rocketed to 38 by the end of play, 17 more than number two seed Nadal.

The Royal Box is almost empty, while the crowd on the rest of Centre Court is looking pretty sparse, too. But with British number one Heather Watson just minutes away from stepping on court, I suspect they won't be away for long.

  11. Postpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

    Marion Bartoli
2013 Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 live

"It's amazing how passionate Nadal still is. He is well aware of what this court means and he was so keen this time to get the win (after losing last time).

"He gives his best every time he is on the court. Everyone loves him. He is so respectful of everyone. A little word on the practice court, a nice hello or a few words. He is gorgeous and amazing!"

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

"How do you teach will, desire, not to quit in any circumstances? you don't see this often, once every 10 years if you're lucky. Nadal has made other guys better trying to compete with him. In the definition of 'where there's a will there's a way' he's the picture you're going to see."

"Absolutely right that a huge obstacle is dealt with. The crowd got the winner they wanted, they got a spirited challenge and high quality tennis, both players bludgeoning the ball. Rosol has proven he belongs in the big leagues, there are not a lot of guys who would want to play him."

  14. GAME, SET AND MATCHpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

By defeating 22nd seed Philipp Kohlschreiber in five sets - 4-6 6-4 6-3 2-6 7-5, Italian Simone Bolelli has reached the third round as a lucky loser for the second time in four years. He also reached the third round as a lucky loser in 2011.

For those who were wondering, the last lucky loser to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon was Belgium's Dick Norman in 1995.

  15. GAME AND SECOND SETpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Stan Wawrinka has just taken the second set of his second round match against Yen-Hsun Lu. The Swiss fifth seed is set to record back-to-back Wimbledon wins for the first time since 2009.

  16. Match statspublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Richard Gasquet and Nick Kyrgios spent three hours and 53 minutes on court, but that's not the longest match so far at this year's Wimbledon. Oh no. Jeremy Chardy's win over Marinko Matosevic - 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (11-9), 4-6, 7-5 - holds that record after a tussle which lasted four hours and 15 minutes.

  17. GAME, SET AND MATCHpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Is there a miracle left in Rosol's denuded armoury? Rafa slices, Rosol nets, a little more hope dies. Punishing forehand return, Nadal outfoxed, 30-30. Lordy - Nadal stuffs a straightforward forehand into the net, shock break point. Oh, too good from Nadal, creaming his baseline forehand away. Ace down the middle, his 10th of the contest, match point. Court open for him here - he'll put this one awa... long! Strange error. Rosol return goes long, second match point. Super return, super follow-up, in to the net, punching volley, second match point saved. Ace out wide. Third match point. Big serve, return... long! Rafa is into the third round for the first time since 2011.

  18. Latest scorespublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Britain's Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins will have to do it the hard way in their men's doubles match against Pablo Cuevas and David Marrero, the 16th seeds. The Brits trail 6-3 4-6 6-3 1-1 on court 11.

  19. Postpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

"I like what I am seeing from Nadal. A lot of people realised early on he is way more vulnerable but if he gets to the second week if you are a Nadal fan you are going to start liking your chances a lot more. You can see his confidence rising. This is B+ now, wait until you get to the AA +."

  20. Coming uppublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Once Rafael Nadal and Lukas Rosol are done and dusted on Centre Court, there will be British interest on Wimbledon's showpiece court as Heather Watson takes on Angelique Kerber, a 2012 semi-finalist and ninth seed, for a place in the third round.
