"In the scheme of things Djokovic is going to win this match but coach Boris Becker will be a little bit concerned about him losing his serve in this set because he had a few blips against Stepanek which prolonged that match. You don't want to see your man lose service breaks because of errors."

Sorry about that folks, our systems have fallen apart in Wimbledon, hence the missing games. This is somebody else filling in from Salford and you join us just as Djokovic holds serve to move to within one game of going two sets up...

Simon throws in first double fault of the match, but it the only blip in a straightforward service game.

"Having bagged the third set, to take a 2-1 lead, nature calls for Fabio Fognini. Quite why he needs to take his racquet with him on his bathroom break though... Maybe he is taking those umpire warnings about not leaving your belongings unattended to heart. It would be a rare concession to authority."

  5. GAME AND FIRST SETpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga takes the first set 6-2 against Jimmy Wang out on court two. The Frenchman is playing on his fifth consecutive day after bad light and rain stopped play in both of his matches.

  7. Pat Cash Q&Apublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

One final blast from former champion Pat Cash, who has been taking your questions during a live session on the BBC Sport Facebook page:, external

Fraser Wilson: What's the best thing about playing at Wimbledon?

Pat Cash: The grass. It's different than the other clubs. It has a great history and a special atmosphere that the other grand slams don't have.

Muhammed Bassman Tundey Cole: Who is your favourite tennis player ever?

Pat Cash: I don't really have one. I learnt from an early age to appreciate all the players and I learnt from different players all the time, sometimes mimicking their shots. I didn't have one specific favourite and I don't now.

"My advice to tennis fans would not to have one favourite but to appreciate the abilities of them all. I don't understand the Rafa or Roger thing - it's like the Beatles and the Stones (but the Beatles are better), Blur and Oasis, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin etc.

Djokovic is untroubled on his first service game of the set, the Serb holding to 15.

Dad-to-be Novak Djokovic has been talking about how he unwinds away from the court during Wimbledon: "I will spend time with my fiancée, who is almost six months pregnant so she needs extra love, care and a cuddle from me. I enjoy seeing her stomach grow.

"We have two dogs here with us and we play around a little bit. I like to keep my mind off the tennis whenever I am at home, but I do watch sport on TV, especially the World Cup."

    The view from court 17

Fabio Fognini, fined earlier this week for making an abusive gesture in his first-round win over American Alex Kuznetsov, will have a bigger audience for any sign language today. As well as packing Court 17, the Italian has attracted the attention of those on neighbouring 16.

    John Lloyd
Former British number one on BBC TV

"The trouble is that Gilles Simon played about as well as he can play. He's a sort of mirror image of Djokovic in some ways but what Djokovic does is a bit better, more winners, less unforced errors. Must be a nightmare playing Djokovic over five sets when he is in this kind of mood."

  12. GAME AND FIRST SETpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Simon, serve to stay in the set, is immediately under pressure as he goes 15-30 down. He recovers to win the next point but a backhand error bring up set point for Djokovic. The Serb then gets the break as Simon's backhand lets him down. High quality set, that.

Djokovic finds himself with a third break point opportunity, but he sends a forehand long. Deuce. And deuce again. And again. Simon looks tired, the Frenchman taking lots of time between points. 16. Pat Cash Q&Apublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

    Pat Cash

Former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash has been answering your questions on the BBC Sport Facebook page:

Tim Murray: Do you think the modern tennis game is more entertaining than when you played back in the dark ages?

Pat Cash: The variety of tennis is nothing compared to the 80s. It's much more one-dimensional now than it was, but the players these days have amazing endurance and ability to keep the ball going in the court, thanks, in a large part to the technology of strings and racquets which enables them to do things we couldn't do in the 80s and 90s.

In the build-up to this match, Novak Djokovic admitted to the BBC that defeat by Rafael Nadal in the French Open final left him feeling emotionally drained heading into Wimbledon. Djokovic, the 2011 Wimbledon champion, has now lost five of his last six Grand Slam finals.

He told Garry Richardson: "Just a couple of weeks ago, I had a disappointing Grand Slam final against Nadal. I put a lot of effort into that final mentally and emotionally so I still feel some traces from that final and that maybe has had an effect on the opening few rounds for me [at Wimbledon].

"But it's very good that I have Wimbledon two weeks after that final so I have an opportunity to mentally reset myself, recharge my batteries and get that confidence back."

  20. Djokovic breakspublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Djokovic mixing it up nicely out there, throwing in the odd slice for a change of pace. He's rewarded with deuce and then a break point as Simon hits wildly long. Simon saves it. But he's soon facing another one and this time he let's it slip to gift Djokovic the break, having been 40-15 up.
