"Nobody had the nerve to make similar requests of Fognini who rumbled back to the lockers in a thunderously dark mood."

  2. Djokovic calls trainerpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Djokovic loses his footing and slips as he stretches for a ball on his forehand side. The Serb falls, landing on his left shoulder. He gets up gingerly and heads over to chair to request the trainer.

  3. GAME, SET AND MATCHpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

In a match carried over from yesterday evening, men's 30th seed Marcel Granollers is out, beaten in five ding-dong sets by Santiago Giraldo of Colombia 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 1-6 6-1 7-5.

Sir 4th of July:, external "Djokovic is looking so average on court, he may not get through the quarters!"

Aimee Darke:, external "Couldn't decide which match to watch at Wimbledon so decided to watch all three!"

Djokovic is on the ropes again, the top seed finding himself break point down. But the Serb conjures up a wonderful cross-court backhand pass to force deuce. The Frenchman then misses by a few millimetres and follows it up by a wild forehand to let Djokovic escape.

Very sloppy from Simon, who saves a break point at 30-40 but then two poor forehands gift Djokovic the break back. We're back on serve.

  7. Anderson v Fogninipublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

    Mike Henson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"With the match apparently gone at 5-0 down in the decider, Fabio Fognini appears to be trying to win some style points at least. One drop-dead dropper and a round-the-back dispatch of a spare ball help him to a service game. But there are no marks for artistic merit in this one. Surely it is too little too late..."

    John Lloyd
Former British number one on BBC TV

"Credit to the Frenchman because two sets down against the number one player in the world, it is pretty daunting. But he has got back to business, got a break, and who knows?"

  9. Latest scorespublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Australian Open champion and second seed Li Na will have to do it the hard way after losing the first set tie-break against Barbora Zahlavova Strycova. It's going with serve in the second, with Li 3-2 up.

  10. Anderson v Fogninipublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

    Mike Henson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"Not quite the full meltdown, but Fabio Fognini is getting a little flustered. A break and 3-0 down in the decider, he takes a medical time-out so long Kevin Anderson has to pull a sweater on and jig about on the baseline to prevent those long limbs ceasing up.

"Blisters are the apparent reason for Fognini's treatment. Some might diagnose a timely bout of gamesmanship."

  11. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Djokovic safely navigates his service game to get a game on the board, but Simon had a sniff of a chance there before scuffing a backhand long.

"Simon needs to get intense, get motivated and get energised. What I love is when he hustles Djokovic."

  13. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Simon is hanging around here and taking advantage of this Djokovic dip. The Frenchman holds serve to 15 to consolidate the break.

  14. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

    John Lloyd
Former British number one on BBC TV

"He's shaking his head there Djokovic. In all probability he's still going to win this match but you don't want to get into these sort of habits. He may get away with it today but sooner or later he will pay for it."

  15. Simon breakspublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

The score may suggest that Djokovic is cruising, but it's far from the case. The Serb is broken for the third time in the match and shakes his head in frustration.

  16. Get involvedpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

John McEnerney:, external "Novak will move up a gear now. He just has too much for Simon, to much of everything! Djokovic's intensity level will increase!"

Mark Le Huray:, external "How good is Lauren Davis looking, big talent for the future?"

  17. Anderson v Fogninipublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

    Mike Henson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

The winner of this match will play Andy Murray in the fourth round, providing of course that the defending champion sees off Roberto Bautista Agut later today.

Each will offer Murray a very different challenge to the other.

Kevin Anderson is your classic grass-court serve-and-volley banger. Long limbs, big groundstrokes, even bigger serve, but not the most mobile.

Fabio Fognini has transplanted his game directly from his favoured clay with few modifications. He scurries well at the back and serves up more slice than the G&T stall with his groundstrokes.

How much mental fortitude does he have though? He's struggling in the fifth...

  18. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

    John Lloyd
Former British number one on BBC TV

"It was a bit of an iffy set that one, the quality dropped from both players. Djokovic let Simon back in but it was a pretty comfortable set for him in the end."

  19. GAME AND SECOND SETpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

This set has been much closer than the score-line suggests, but it's Djokovic who now leads by two sets after breaking the Simon serve three times.

And, all is well with our system, and we're back on commentary. Apologies for the missing games.

"Biltong and braais are part of the south-west London lingo thanks to the prominent South African ex-pat community in the area. Plenty of them have turned up to cheer on big-serving Kevin Anderson. Lots of congratulatory long vowel sounds as their man digs out a game from 15-40 down early in the fourth."
