  1. Play delayed until 11:45 BSTpublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

The booming voice of the Wimbledon announcer hits the airwaves to bring us bad news. The start of play on the outside courts will be delayed by 15 minutes with an estimated start time of 11:45 BST.

    Covers

The rain continues to fall at Wimbledon, with organisers taking the decision to lay a cable down the middle of the covers to hoist it up like a tent. That suggests we could be in for a sizeable wait.

  3. Court One schedulepublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Over on Court One, second seed Li Na - who is not only the most successful Asian tennis player in history but also fast becoming one of the most marketable athletes in the world - will be in action from 13:00 BST - rain permitting.

Barbora Zahlavova Strycova v Li Na [2]

    Grigor Dimitrov [11] v Alexandr Dolgopolov [21]

    Marin Cilic [26] v Tomas Berdych [6]

  4. Centre Court schedulepublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Centre Court is rich in Grand Slam champions today. Here's the plan:

Novak Djokovic [1] v Gilles Simon

    Petra Kvitova [6] v Venus Williams [30]

Andy Murray [3] v Roberto Bautista Agut [27]

    Action starts at 13:00 BST

  5. It's rainingpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

It's raining. Only lightly, mind, but enough for organisers to sound the call to cover the courts. On come the attendants to drag the covers across Centre Court. I suspect they'll be busy today.

    Weather forecast

The forecast for today makes for disappointing reading with showers expected from around lunch time. However, the Centre Court roof will at least allow foe some play while conditions are expected to improve later this afternoon and into the evening that'll boost hopes of play on the outside courts.

"Bautista Agut will take swings at Andy's second serve so Andy will have to be smart with where he puts it, and what type of spin he uses. But he has served magnificently well in this tournament.

"If Andy plays well he doesn't need to worry too much about his opponent, but at the same time he needs to be wary. It's a step up from his opening two rounds."

  8. Murray v Bautista Agutpublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

The pair share a common interest in football, with Bautista Agut a former junior with Spanish football club Villareal. "We are good friends," added the Spaniard.

"I had the opportunity to practise with him in Valencia before Madrid because he came earlier to practise on clay.

"We had a few chances to practise together and we talked about football. We just enjoyed the practice."

"Murray is going to face a pretty awkward competitor. He is a very intense competitor out there - and you can't blame him for that - everyone is trying to fight for the same prize.

"He is very durable, he hits the ball very flat, which is a great benefit on grass. However, he doesn't have the greatest serve and I always feel that against Andy if you don't have something special in that department he is going to make you pay too often in a match."

  10. Murray v Bautista Agutpublished at 10:42 British Summer Time 27 June 2014

Bautista Agut practised with Murray last year and has said he plans to be "aggressive".

The Spaniard said: "I will try to play my game. I am winning a lot of matches. I will try to be aggressive, to play my game.

"I feel good playing from the baseline. I have good returns. I feel well physically. I feel good on the long matches."

So Andy Murray will be in action on Centre Court today. The Briton is the third match on so expect him to step onto the hallowed turf, with his opponent Roberto Bautista Agut, around 17:00 BST.

Murray arrives in the third round on the back of a dominant victory over Blaz Rola. The third seed lost just two games as he beat the Slovenian in 84 minutes.

But Murray is all too aware of the threat posed by Bautista Agut, the world number 23. "He's a very good player. It will be a step up for sure," said Murray.

"He doesn't play like a lot of the Spanish guys. He plays very flat. Not much topspin. The grass courts suit his game pretty well. He's obviously started well here. He's improving all the time."

Morning everybody and a very warm welcome to our live coverage of day of Wimbledon 2014. The sun has deserted us, with the threat of rain on the horizon, but for now at least, it remains dry and we're just an hour away until the start of play.

    "I'm not scared."

Those were the words of Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut ahead of his third round match with defending champion Andy Murray later today.

The 26-year-old has reason to be confident. He won his first grass-court title in the Netherlands earlier this month and has risen from 60th to 23rd in the world in the last 12 months.

It's clear, Bautista Agut provides Murray with his sternest challenge yet in the defence of his title.
