Quote Message"What an introduction to Davis Cup tennis. A 12-minute opening game and well done him for getting through it."
*Goffin 0-1 Edmund
Kyle Edmund's serve is still spitting down fire.
A ram-jammer of first serve brings up game point and a slicey, spinny second is too foxy for David Goffin who pats into the net on return.
Just the 12 minutes on the clock for that opening game...
Goffin 0-0 Edmund*
Another break point salvaged by Kyle Edmund as his serve gets him out of trouble, Goffin framing his return into the rafters.
A right old tussle in this opening game. It will do Edmund's confidence a world of good to come through it...
Goffin 0-0 Edmund*
Kyle Edmund's dirty great slap of a forehand has enough sting behind it to penetrate through the slower clay court and Goffin's defences for a winner.
But his backhand is a less vicious stroke.
Goffin pounces on a midcourt bounce off that wing to force break point.
Edmund, after a pause for an over-oiled shouter in the cheap seats, serves big to save it.
Almost 10 minutes on the clock for the opening game.

Jonathan Overend
BBC Sport tennis commentator on BBC Two
"Good work at the net by Edmund, it is something he has been working on. They want him to be aggressive and to finish the points as soon as possible. He was told on Tuesday he would be making his debut."
Goffin 0-0 Edmund*
Forehands are resonating around the tin roof of the Flanders Expo centre.
Kyle Edmund is in a bit of 15-30 bother as David Goffin slips a silky backhand up the line for a winner as he comes to the net and then makes a poor call on the baseline, thinking Goffin had pumped long.
Edmund hustles well, hammering away an overhead for 40-30, but he has been pegged back to deuce.
Early pressure on the young man...
The British Barmy army, decked out in matching blue T-shirts and with matching screams of support, roar Kyle Edmund off his stool and out on to court.

L Higgins: Go on TeamGB, be history makers this weekend.
Kelly J: My afternoon sorted. Dog walk after work then #DavisCup. Come on.
Piers Newbery

"Kyle Edmund is the sixth person in the long history of the Davis Cup to make their debut in a final. No-one has won a live rubber and that includes Pete Sampras. It all adds to the feeling that this should be a win for David Goffin, who has had a fabulous 18 months."
John Lloyd
Former Davis Cup finalist on BBC Two
"I spoke to Dom Inglot yesterday, he totally understands the decision to be left out. He is disappointed but Jamie Murray has had a spectacular year and if Andy Murray was on the doubles circuit he would be top 10 in the world, you have to play Andy."

Lesley MacVinish: About to board flight to Brussels for doubles tomorrow. Feeling nervous and excited 😨. C'mon Kyle.
Laura: Wow what an atmosphere. Should be an epic tie. Edmund looks ready. Come on boys!
Former GB Davis Cup player Jamie Baker on BBC Two: "Huge pressure on Goffin. He is the favourite but if he doesn't win, the tie is basically over."
Kyle Edmund on BBC Two: "It is very exciting for me. This experience is exciting. It is important to remember the team comes first. It is about putting the point on the baord and giving it my best."
Miles Maclagan
British tennis coach on Radio 5 live sports extra
"Kyle Edmund may not play the greatest first set but in the context of the whole tie, it's important to set some momentum, to give the fans a reason to get excited and get involved and put some pressure on Belgium."
Jamie Baker
Former GB Davis Cup player on BBC Two
"By miles the biggest match of Edmund's career. Now it is a question of not thinking it is the Davis Cup final. It is purely about the match."
Five players have made their Davis Cup debut in a final. None of them won a live rubber in doing so.
David Goffin v Kyle Edmund
Kyle Edmund decked out in deep blue is clumping down some practice serves as David Goffin, in red, pats them back.
