    Murray v Raonic

You don't need to go too deep into the stats to find Raonic's main strength.

The 25-year-old Canadian has pelted down 84 aces, winning 83% of points behind his first serve and maxing out the speed gun at a spicy 145mph.

In all those categories he is second in the tournament stats overall.

After beating big-serving Sam Groth 6-0 6-4 6-1 in the second round, Murray better have had his hitting partners move up the court again to test his return reflexes.

    2011: David Ferrer

    2012: Novak Djokovic

    2013: Roger Federer

    2015: Tomas Berdych

Big matches and, for the most part, matches Murray has won.

Next up, in 2016, is the Canadian serve slugger Milos Raonic.

For the winner, in the final awaits a certain Novak Djokovic.

    Thirty-three years.

Between John Lloyd's appearance in the last four in 1977 and Andy Murray's meeting with Marin Cilic in 2010, Britain had precisely zero Aussie Open semi-finalists for a third of a century.

A run as barren as paper supplies in an Outback dunny.

Since then, Murray has been treating us to an annual dose of January last-four sunshine.
