Big call, but I think McEnroe may well be right with no Nadal and a win over a twitchy and tense Novak Djokovic in his back pocket from Rome.

Anonymity: Gasquet is too one dimensional to really trouble Murray. Andy to go through in straight sets.

That's what we like to see - some British confidence.

What do they say is the first job for Premier League teams handed an unappetising Eastern European trip?

    Silence the crowd.

Well, Andy Murray has reduced Philippe Chatrier to library hush with a love service hold.

It was done with some ease as well - the Scot's deft hands inflicting death by a thousand drop volleys at the net.

Andy Murray with his first look at the Gasquet serve.

And the British number one has a 0-30 glimmer to push at.

Gasquet comes marauding into the net on the next point, Murray dinks a lob up and Gasquet stretches skywards to swat away a backhand volley.

What could have been 0-40 is 15-30. A matter of centimetres.

That swishy backhand stroke though hides some less sexy sides to the Gasquet game.

The serve and mental fortitude are two and both go missing as the French world number 12 double faults at 30-40 to gift Murray the break.

Andy Murray holds his serve and sees it out with an ace. Nice work from the British number one.

The crowd are very much behind their own in this one, though, and that's got to work in Richard Gasquet's favour.

The Frenchman prepares his first service game.

Rafael Nadal has been forced to withdraw from Queen's because of the wrist injury which saw him pull out of the French Open last week.

The nine-time Roland Garros winner has been advised to rest his wrist in the short-term, and he said in a statement: "I am very sad that my wrist injury means that I cannot play at The Queen’s Club this year.

“It is a tournament and a club that I love, I enjoy playing in front of the British people, and I was looking forward to trying to win the title for a second time. I wish everyone at the tournament a great week, and I look forward to returning in future years.”

The tournament runs from 13th-19th June.

Always the entertainer, Novak Djokovic brings an unsuspecting ball boy onto court with him to help with the celebrations.

Djokovic talks him through what he wants him to do, and the pair turn to every side of court and both scoop their arms aloft in unison, and the crowd cheer with delight.

I hope the kid's mum recorded that. He looked a bit star-struck.

A huge, huge sigh of relief from Novak Djokovic. He's through to the quarter-finals.

What a battle from Roberto Bautista Agut.

It's taken two days - and three hours and 10 minutes - but we're finally at match point.

But Djokovic is held up by a Bautista Agut smash. Think he enjoyed that one.

    We go to deuce.

    *Djokovic 3-6 6-4 6-1 6-5 Bautista Agut

The pair try and out drop-shot each other at the net. Djokovic comes out on top to lead 0-15.

Bautista Agut gets his own back as he tricks Djokovic into thinking his forehand is going long...but it sneaks in.

But another deft backhand from Djokovic seems him earn a break point.

The pair stayed pinned to opposing corners and trade blows (and grunts).

Djokovic snatches it! The world number one breaks at a crucial moment. He serves for the match.

Judging by the look on Roberto Bautista Agut's face, it must be very satisfying to sneak a winner past Novak Djokovic.

He out-tricks the Serb to snatch a point on his serve.

But then Djokovic digs deeper into the box of magic tricks to pull out a couple of neat backhands and he holds his serve.

Djokovic is on the hunt for the crucial break in this set and he manages to take Bautista Agut to deuce.

But the advantage goes the Spaniard's way and his forehand is just too powerful for Djokovic. He takes the game to sneak ahead again.

    In style, is the answer.

He earns two break points and needs only one to nab the game, after Bautista Agut hits just out.
