    Djokovic 3-0 *Ward

James Ward has 0-40 and three break points. Suddenly there is the scent of revolution in the air on Centre Court, a chance to unseat SW19's emperor and strike a blow for the red, white and blue.

The only red, white and blue flying high at the end of the game though is that on the Serbian flag.

Djokovic swoops to save all three with relentless high-quality tennis.

Sometimes it seems that Ward is going for too much on his second serve.

That is because he has got Novak Djokovic over the net and he thinks he has to go for more than he normally would.

    *Djokovic 2-0 Ward

James Ward faces up to a break point at 30-40. It won't be the first you fear.

A crashing first serve, rained down like a meteorite, is beyond even Novak Djokovic's returning powers.

Yep, here comes another break point.

Into a rally. And as it progresses Novak Djokovic wrestles his way slowly and surely on top.

A cracking forehand snuffs out the point and seals the break.

What has Ward got to lose? He knows if he plays cautiously he has no chance. If can look to step up and get that first strike in, be aggressive, he's nothing to lose and everything to gain.

More groans and grimaces from the Court Two crowd as British number three Kyle Edmund finally loses the second set. With the clock ticking well into lunchtime, quite a few decide it is time to nip out for a private sandwich.

It is a real honour, the greatest you can have.

A great honour, but Novak Djokovic does not stand on ceremony. A couple of aces in an opening game hold to love.

Kyle Edmund has it all to do.

The British number three will have to win in five, something he has only done on one occasion - when he beat Stephane Robert in the first round of the French Open last year.

  12. Djokovic & Ward on courtpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 27 June 2016

Novak Djokovic strides out into the sparkling sunshine.

There had been talk of Centre Court giving the all-conquering Serb a standing ovation after his stellar year.

There are a few people standing to attention as he waves to all four sides, but still plenty of buttocks on benches as well.

An all-out charm offensive seemed to win over Paris last month. I wonder if we might see something similar this fortnight.

Britain's Laura Robson is out in the sunshine over on the practice courts, as she prepares to meet fourth seed Angelique Kerber.

Wildcard Robson has been struggling with a thigh injury recently - it forced her to retire at Eastbourne - but she's got no strapping on her leg today.

James Ward needs to attack and be very good on break points.

He has to hope Novak has a bad forehand day. We saw it in a couple of matches in the French Open, if the Djokovic forehand is off, it stays off.

Ward has got to pick the right times to make his move and serve well.
