Those quaffing the fizz at the champagne stand may be flush for cash, but they seem to be suffering from a shortage of names.

One group of bright young boys and girls seems to consist entirely of Harrys, Charlies and Darlings.

I think Djokovic will be relieved, not particularly happy, it was his first match on court but there was too many unforced errors.

But you have to give credit to James Ward.

Let's congratulate James Ward for making a match of it. That's good for him on his debut. For Novak, steady as he goes. He took his eye off the ball in the second set, but it's a nice opening act for him.

    Djokovic 6-0 7-6 6-4 Ward

Novak Djokovic speaking after his victory over Britain's James Ward:

"There is not really not much to say about the first nine games, it was flawless, I felt great and nerves kicked in for James. He started playing better in the second set and it got close. It was solid performance from me though. James was serving with a lot of precision and it was not easy to break his serve.

"This is probably the most unique experience in tennis, playing as the defending champion, on untouched grass. It is really special to feel this tradition."

It's a case of job done for Novak, coming in as defending champion on a fresh grass court can be a bit tricky. He's got the win. certainly with the way Wimbledon is - the day off on the Sunday - it's almost a tournament of two halves.
