Joe Miles: I once lent Marcus a book on tennis. I put all his success down to that. And I never got the book back.

Marcus Willis on BBC Two: "I played great. I got a bit tight. I'm delighted. The boys in the corner and everyone got behind me and it really helped. Thanks to my parents who put the work in when I was younger. It's fantastic.

Asked about the £50,000 he's guaranteed in prize money, the Briton says: I've not really thought about it. I just get on with it a match at a time. I just went for it, I've got no pressure, I'm playing great tennis. I played my game, hit a couple of good passes and here I am.

It's taken everyone's breath away. It's the manner of the performance, as well, the way he went about this - he's taken everything in his strike. What a win for him.

Game, set and match Willis!published at 18:35 British Summer Time 27 June 2016

    Berankis 3-6 3-6 4-6 Willis

    Easy.

A whopper of a serve down the middle and Ricardas Berankis cannot deal with the power of the Willbomb.

Willis throws his head back, whips off his bandana and heads off to hug his girlfriend (tenderly) and mates (3am dancefloor style).

He will play Roger Federer next, presuming the Swiss wins his opener.

Willis is world 773. I really cannot emphasis that enough.

There is a right old media scrum waiting for him as he comes off court.

I saw Laura in practice and she looked in better physical shape which is a good sign because it means she has been able to spend more time on the court.

The service motion looked smoother and she looked more sure of herself. She was not totally accelerating which could be because of her wrist.

I feel she is on her way back.
