Here we go - to 15, to 30, to 40, and a clenched fist to the ground. Not this time - one long - and now Roger to the net, once, twice, away with the smash, 40-30. Better serve, Federer marooned out wide, he should put this away - and does! Centre Court rises, it's like Willis is firing out free tenners...

Johanna Konta was 6-1 2-1 up in her match against Monica Puig when the rain set in on Monday.

But It looks like the British number one has got a little ring rusty waiting for the court to dry out.

She has lost the first three games after the resumption and is now a break down in the second.

Hard yards now for the fairytale kid, a Federer hold to love, and a few smiles starting to slip under the Centre Court lights. The WillBombs, his personal cheerleaders, pumping fists and roaring encouragement.

Willis fought very hard and the entertainment factor was high but, ultimately, he's nothing to show for it in games won, but most of those games were very competitive.

The anticipation was maybe a little greater than the actual match but hopefully Marcus will get up and running fairly soon. I wonder how he will get anything out of this match, but this is his moment.

An excellent point earned by the Brit.

Now then - even Federer can't reach that angled volley, and at last Willis has game point. Ach, biffs the forehand long off a rapier return. Volley wide, set point. Backhand drifting, drifting, drifting...

And that's what a gap of 769 in the rankings looks like - rapid-fire hold from Roger, sealed with a regal backhand overhead flick. 19 minutes gone, the first set slipping away from the British wildcard wildcat.

Willis and Federer walking on Centre Court. Chills, spine, tingles...

Better news - Willis to deuce on his serve as Fed pushes a backhand block return just wide. Worse news - Federer reading the drop volleys like the Ladybird Book of Tennis, and he's strolling away with his second break of the day. Just get one on the board, Marcus, and the world will be with you again.

Jack Blundell: This is like England vs. Iceland.. Except this time I'm cheering happily for Iceland and not crying in the corner.

Chris Sansome: Refreshing to see some genuine personality coming through on centre court from Willis! It's rare these days.  

British number two Heather Watson would normally be pretty near the centre of attention as she attempts to make the second round against German opposition. Not during Marcus Willis' 15 minutes of fame though.

There are a fair few spare seats out on Court 12 though as she resumes against Annika Beck of Germany.

Watson, world number 55, is a break up.
