I hope Laura Robson can get over her bad luck and compete with the likes of Johanna Konta.

She’s only 22 so there’s still time for her and she can hit the ball well.

It is an interesting journey. When my wife and I moved out of London, we had a training base at Bisham Abbey and that is where Marcus Willis used to practice from age 12 to 18 and he was always a talented kid.

He had a lot of character and was always a talented kid but he had fitness problems and I am glad to see he has missed a few meals since then and got in great shape.

    He always had good game.

His journey has been unbelievable not even in being in pre-qualifying, to be the last person in and then won three rounds there and then won three more in qualifying to get into the main draw and all of a sudden he is going to play Roger Federer.

It is going to be some occasion and you will be able to keep across the action live on BBC One, BBC Radio 5 live, online, connected TVs, tablets and mobiles, live text commentary, semaphore, sky-writing and interpretive dance.

    Keep it tuned.

This year he has relied on a natural talent, hard work and a slice of luck.

The 25-year-old only got into Wimbledon pre-qualifying after another player - Scott Clayton - could not get back from Turkey in time.

Since then he has won seven straight matches - to surge into qualifying proper, into the main draw and past world number 54 Ricardas Berankis.

His reward, and that for all his generous patrons, is a match on Centre Court against Roger Federer.

Even in his most fevered, cheese-fuelled dreams cannot have conjured such a day.

Andrew Gaskin handed over a refund from his over-charging electricity company.

Seth Thomas stumped up some of his spread-thin student loan.

Mum and Dad lobbed another £25 in the pot.

In 2015, Marcus Willis' attempts to make the Wimbledon main draw - "my ultimate dream" - involved him asking for donations to fund his preparations.

He raised more than £2,000, but fell short of the first round., external
