    The top guys come out firing hard, but also keep something back. As the set wore on and he saw that Lu was sharp, Murray knew he needed to do something to stop the first set drifting away from him - and he was able to do it.

    Lu is definitely more confident and more consistent with that backhand. But if you only get in one of six first serves in against Murray you won't win many games.

    Despite that break back Yen-Hsun Lu showed he is definitely not just here to make up the numbers, when he broke Murray in the first game of this match.

Murray forehand cross-court, and Lu can only fend that into the net - forehand follows the same way, and that's two break points, the first saved by a meaty first serve, the second into a mammoth baseline rally - Murray lucky with one that skips off the net-cord and lands safe, and now Lu in for a drop-shot, flicking it up and away... wide!

    At the moment Lu is in the zone. He has nothing to lose and a lot to gain. You assume when Murray gets his act together he will do everything better. But he needs it to turn around sooner rather than later.

    Lu has really come out wanting this match. High intensity, aggressive and finding depth from the lines. Making things difficult for Murray so far.

Murray squeaks home, to relieved applause from a still patchy crowd on Centre. Don't worry, they'll be back - a few full bladders and bleary eyes after the preceding four-setter.
