Stunned spectators around other courts were earlier gawping in disbelief at screens showing the latest scores - with defending champion Novak Djokovic two sets down to world number 28 Sam Querrey.

Play on Court One will resume on Saturday, and don't rule out a fightback from the 12-time Grand Slam champion.

Djokovic came from two sets down against Kevin Anderson in the fourth round last year, and went on to win his third SW19 title.

There's so many voices inside this court just urging Dan Evans to take something from this match. However little.

    *Federer 6-4 5-2 Evans

Dan Evans gets some much-needed encouragement from the crowd as he serves to stay in the set.

He watches Federer hit a long backhand to move to 40-30 and places a forehand into the corner to hold.

He's stopped the rot for now. Federer to serve for the set.

    *Federer 6-4 4-1 Evans

While Federer has racked up six aces, Evans has racked up six double faults.

His latest one takes us to deuce.

Once again, Evans has to wait a while but he does hold to get off the mark in this set.

A severe case of deja vu...

    Federer 6-4 4-0 Evans*

Evans snatches a point off Federer but the Swiss responds with his sixth ace of the match. Kerpow, as they say in the comic books.

But now the Brit has break point...sneaky.He can't do anything with it though, as he hits long past the baseline.

Deuce time. As the pair chase lines, Evans smacks a forehand marginally wide.

Federer then holds as Evans fails to return. So close, yet...

Dan Evans has found himself in a bit of a pickle now.

He tries to dink a delicate dropshot over the net but it bounces back the wrong way. Federer has three break points again.

One is saved, but a wild backhand from Evans sees the seven-time champion break.

Tennis fans at Wimbledon can join a queue for resale tickets - those no longer needed by spectators who have left for the day.

Two women who struck lucky on Friday evening were Pauline De Sousa and Anastasia Rodina.

"We had ground passes, joined the resale queue and 15 minutes later had Court One tickets to see Novak Djokovic. It's really cool," said London-based South African Pauline.

I doubt they would have expected to see Djokovic go two sets down - to Sam Querrey - however.

On a day where the rain has been everyone's enemy, Novak Djokoiv must have been delighted to see it after losing the second set to Sam Querrey.  A major shock is on the cards...

    *Federer 5-4 Evans

Dan Evans incurs a double fault to take the game to deuce and then he fails with a drop shot.

Federer has the advantage and break point. But Evans fends it off and then takes the advantage himself.

And the crowd cheer as Federer swipes into the net. Game Evans, and Federer will serve for the set.

    Federer 5-3 Evans*

A mighty long rally for the first point of the game - both players are trapped behind their baselines ready to pounce.

Eventually, Federer clips the ball over the net to win it. Then he holds to love.
