    *Millman 3-6 5-7 0-4 Murray

Up next for Andy Murray is either Australian firebrand Nick Kyrgios or sultry Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.

Should we get ahead of ourselves?

    Let's.

If Murray were to win that he would be seeded to meet Richard Gasquet in the quarter-finals, Tomas Berdych in the semi-finals and then Roger Federer in the final.

Pick the bones out of that.

  3. 'I had to be patient'published at 18:15 British Summer Time 2 July 2016

    Millman 3-6 5-7 2-6 Murray

Andy Murray on BBC One: "I thought it was a good match, a lot of long rallies. John moves well and doesn't make too many unforced errors.

"When you go indoors it slows the conditions down a bit so it wasn't easy to hit too many winners. I had to be patient and played some good stuff in the third set.

"It’s nice, I love all sports, when athletes from other sports come in to watch your one. It’s obviously very nice and gives you a little boost so I’m glad I played a good match and got through today."

"I've got it! I've got it!" shout one excitable youngster. Andy Murray signs a few oversized tennis balls - and one traditionalist's programme - on his way out of Centre Court. This post-match ritual is much more fun when you've won.

Now I would be very happy if I was Ivan Lendl, especially with the way Andy played after dropping his serve when he was serving for the second set.

Murray unscathed, untroubled, unworried and looking good. It was a terrific effort from John Millman, at the end of that second set he challenged Murray from 5-3 down.

    Millman 3-6 5-7 2-6 Murray

Andy Murray is through the first three rounds of the championship without dropping a set.

The sudden lurch into danger that Novak Djokovic suffered last night is an experience the British number one has dodged in the first week.

Murray signs his name, poses for a selfie and give the thumbs up before heading back the dressing room.

A very decent first half of the job done.

John Millman keeps his cards on the table for another game at least.

Andy Murray steps in on a return at 15-15, going for the jugular. But he has missed his mark down the line.

Millman stretches up to clump down a winning smash as Murray tickles another lob towards the open acres behind him.

Murray stretches the net with another shot-to-nothing return. And that is his lot.

Come on then, get involved in the debate we've just been having in the commentary box.

Where does Djokovic's exit in the third round of Wimbledon rate among the sporting shocks of 2016?

Bigger than Leicester winning the league? Or less of a surprise than England losing to Iceland? What about Wales making the Euro 2016 semi-finals?

John Millman gives Andy Murray a taste of his own medicine with a sublime lob that lands plum on the sideline for a 0-30 winner.

Murray bites back though, working over the Australian with his forehand and then raining down a rocket serve. 30-all.

A 106mph second serve pelted down at 40-30 is too spicy a burrito for John Millman. His return is into the net.

John Millman keeps his nose above the fast-rising tide. Andy Murray looks impassive as he takes a sip of isotonic.

Ivan Lendl is even less animated. Actually I think they have replaced the wise old head with an Easter Island statue in the players' box.

Marcus Kirby: Not sure Murray to win Wimbledon maybe an outsider. Year of the underdogs. Leicester, Wales...

Andy Murray has trademarked his monogram. He should get down the patent office about that cross-court lob.

Another precision bomb into the far corner over a stranded John Millman brings up 0-40.

Three break points and Murray converts the first with a wicked forehand angle.

Murray has clicked into top gear in this set. Millman - the world number 67 - is being dissected.

Andy Murray is scooting around Centre Court with an extra zip. His shot have a deliberate carefully calibrated feel as well.

I think he is pleased to have got out of that second set after making heavy weather of closing it out.

The Wimbledon ley lines are still shuddering in the aftermath of Novak Djokovic's exit. Suddenly the whole men's draw has a Wild West feel to it. The sheriff is out of town and there are lots of hip, young things wanting to become top gun.

Andy Murray is at the front of that queue as world number two and he breaks serve at the beginning of the third set to inch another game closer to the crown.
