  1. Are we heading for Williams v Williams?published at 15:03 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

    V.Williams 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 Shvedova

Venus Williams will now play Angelique Kerber in the semis.

If she makes it past the German, and if her 21-time Grand Slam-winning sister Serena can also make it to Saturday, we will have quite a battle on our hands.

It is her dream place, Wimbledon means more to Venus than anywhere else.

It is great. Everything she has gone through, from minor injuries to the illness it has been a battle and I think all of us have a soft spot for her.

The 36-year-old has reached the last four for the first time since 2009.

One of my favourites quotes at this Wimbledon was from Venus Williams.

She said: "The first time you win nobody picks you and the last time you win nobody picks you, so you pick yourself."

It's the first time Venus has got to a Grand Slam semi-final in six years. Cap doffed to the 36-year-old.

    V.Williams 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 Shvedova

Ideally for the Williams family, Venus has match point just as Serena is warming up on Centre.

But on her second serve, at 40-30, Venus hits long over the baseline and they go to deuce.

One more match point to Williams...and Shvedova can only smack into the net. Venus is through to the semis!

And her mum's now making a dash for it.

    Halep 5-7 6-7 (2-7) Kerber

Angelique Kerber on BBC TV: "I think we both played a really good match at a high level, we are both good return players.

"I am really happy I won, it was really close and Simona is a great player. She was moving so good and always fighting.

"I am feeling really good. I'm trying to focus on my game and I'm enjoying every day here and I'm so happy to be in the semis now.

"I think I have had a great year so far and right now I am feeling so good and I think I am playing my best tennis now and hopefully I can play a few more matches here."

    Britain loves a queue, eh?

I'm told there were about 2,000 people in the queue for Wednesday tickets - on Tuesday morning.

Tomorrow is men's quarter-finals day where Andy Murray faces Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

It looks like Shvedova is going to hold to love to make Venus Williams serve for the match...before the five-time champion claws her way back to 40-30.

The Kazakh does win out with a backhand, to leave it in the hands of a pensive-looking Williams.

That was some display from Kerber.

She still hasn't dropped a set and looks so confident.

Halep had played so well until that tie break, too many unforced errors at the crucial moment.

  10. Serena v Pavlyuchenkova next on Centrepublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 5 July 2016

You know that scene in Jurassic Park where the glass of water starts gently rippling at the distant advance of the T-Rex?

It is a little like that on Centre Court right now because next up is defending champion Serena Williams, whose brutal groundstrokes battered Svetlana Kuznetsova off the court in the previous round.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the Russian 21st seed - is the next in the path of the women's draw juggernaut.

    *V.Williams 7-6 (7-5) 4-1 Shvedova

She's certainly on the back-foot against Venus Williams, but Yaroslava Shvedova is not going down without a fight.

The unseeded Kazakh saves two break points and then proceeds to argue with the umpire after disputing a line call. I wouldn't mess with her.

But the world number 96 can't hold on for long. A backhand winner down the line hands Williams another break and she has a healthy lead in the second.

Angelique Kerber is the latest to send her bat tumbling to the turf as she goes through.

This run matches her best at Wimbledon. She went out to Agnieszka Radwanska in 2012.

She will play the winner of Venus Williams and Yaroslava Shvedova in this year's last four.

    Halep 5-7 6-6 Kerber

Two delicious cross-court forehands from Simona Halep, strafing across the nose of an advancing Angelique Kerber help her seal a service game.

But then Williams did the same again. Let's see if she can hold now...
