It seems that the balance has shifted. Lajovic now looks much more comfortable in the rallies and is having more of a say in points.

    Lajovic 3-6 4-6 6-6 (4-2) Edmund*

Both men are charged for this.

1-0 - Lajovic holds just after being on the backfoot in the rally

1-1 - Edmo's wide serve is returned with too much by Lajovic

2-1 - Extra top on his forehand sees Edmo move ahead

2-2 - Lajovic on top in the point. Edmo fails to deal with the forehand down the line.

3-2 - Long rally finishes with Edmo finding the net. All going to serve.

4-2 - Mini-break as Edmo's backhand fails to creep over the net.

What a gutsy effort from Kyle. He's not pushing up through his legs as much on the serve as he was and that's a sign of nerves. He's got to charge himself up and get this match over in the tie-break.

Well done to come through that game and save two set points.

  5. Tie-break timepublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    *Lajovic 3-6 4-6 6-6 Edmund

Lajovic seems like a player who's taken a swig of his favourite fizzy pop.

Edmund is hanging on after losing the first point and then playing an uncharacteristic long forehand.

He then fails to deal with a Lajovic return that lands on the baseline. Another break point - and set point for Lajovic.

Deuce. Just. Lajovic's forehand lands fractions wide.

He had the game in the grasp of his hands but double faults then sends a forehand wide. Set point again for Lajovic. All over?

Nooooo. Edmund saves. Then plays another beauty of a forehand. He can taste the tie-break. And takes a mouthful with a great second serve.

This will be an important changeover. Leon Smith will need to reassure Kyle Edmund. Tell him that these things happen in matches but block the crowd out, keep doing what he's been doing and don't over-complicate things.

    Rejuvenated. Does Lajovic smell fear?

He plays an exemplary service game. The Serbian support raise their voices, the Serbian horns sound more optimistic. A brighter future?

Will Edmund hold and take it to a tie-break? Captain Leon Smith is having a little chat with Edmo.

That is just tension. The pressure of serving it out. You could almost see his arm shaking with expectancy. When that's sets in there's not much you can do about it.

  12. Lajovic breaks backpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    *Lajovic 3-6 4-6 5-5 Edmund

0-15 - Lajovic backhand whip lands at the feet of Edmund

15-15 - Backhand return is wide from Lajovic

30-15 - Forehand o'clock. Edmund plays a variety of them to win the point

30-30 - Whipped forehand from Edmund clips the tape and sneaks out. Surely not signs of nerves?

30-40 - Backhand down the line from Lajovic. Break point for the Serb!

    BROKEN!

He received the trophy from a certain Bjorn Borg.

I do feel for Lajovic. He plays a great shot that Edmund picked up Murray-like.

Two Lajovic errors moves the score to 40-0.

Edmund tidies up with a serve that the Serb cannot deal with.

I wonder if you plonked Edmund in the Wimbledon final whether he would feel any pressure?

    Doubt it.

    Lajovic 3-6 4-6 3-4 Edmund*

Worth reminding ourselves that Kyle Edmund is only 21. Was Andy Murray this assured at that age?

Fist in the air from Edmo as Lajovic hits long after coming to the net - snatched and missed.

    Two break points!

The first is saved after Edmund sends his return into orbit. Edmund then hits a slightly wayward double-handed backhand.

The Serb breathes again. But Edmo's punched volley at the net for another break point followed by a Lajovic error after he was sent out wide gives the Brit the advantage.

    Huuuuuuge.

This set has a different flavour. There are fewer rallies. Both players are biding their time when to attack.

Edmund goes forehand, forehand, forehand before Lajovic counters with a deft sliced backhand at the net.

Lajovic pulls it back to 30-40 with a great deep forehand, but Edmund responds with his Joker card of a forehand.

I am always looking how players can win multiple points over and over again in these five set matches.

Edmund is doing it with his forehand but I can't see with Lajovic where it is going to come from.
