    Lajovic 3-6 4-6 3-2 Edmund*

Edmund controls the Lajovic service game.

He uses his missile-like flat forehand to bring up break point. Lajovic saves after a thrilling rally. Two net-cords help the Serb move to advantage - he holds again by the skin of his teeth.

All about energy conservation by the looks of it.

Edmo is picking his times to attack. Powerful forehand, strong serve and another Lajovic shot into the net. The Serb looks scared to attack.

He might as well try and force the issue - he's two sets down.

France have secured their place in the last four by taking an unassailable 3-1 lead over the Czech Republic in the eastern Czech town of Trinec.

The man-mountain that is Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who won a five-set marathon on Friday, sealed the victory by beating Jiri Vesely 4-6 7-6 (7-3) 6-4 7-5.

Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert clinched France's other point with a gutsy five-set doubles win on Saturday.

France will face either the United States or Croatia in a home tie in September.

    Lajovic 3-6 4-6 2-1 Edmund*

Edmund looks so focused. He's thinking "I'm not going to break Lajovic now, I'll wait".

    Lajovic holds to 15.

Edmo wasn't trying. His mind was probably on the beauty of East Riding.

    *Lajovic 3-6 4-6 1-1 Edmund

Interesting. Edmo has a dose of the yips all of a sudden. It's 0-30 after his weak second serve is returned with stuffed crust and extra topping.

But a good forehand, Lajovic error, overhead smash and decent serve gets him out of trouble.

    Serve held.

The whimsical Serbian horn echoes a different mood now for its tennis players around the arena. It was full of optimism, but now the A# has a defeatist sound. Sad.

Anyway, Lajovic is a fighter. He cruises through the first service game of the third set.

It is a fantastic performance so far, just outstanding.

Looking at those first two sets, the only thing that can happen to stop Edmund winning is physicality comes into it somehow.

Lajovic just doesn't have the game to hurt Kyle Edmund.

Edmund gets the Power Sword out again and declares "I have the power" with two brilliant forehands.

Lajovic counters with good defensive backhand. But a backhand mistake on the Edmund serve leads to two set points.

Let. Then kicking serve down the middle.

    Game. Second set.

This is what you do when you sense your man is down.

It is uninhibited hitting from Edmund.

Any thoughts of Edmund waiting for his own service game to wrap up the second set are dismissed with two gorgeous forehands.

    Deuce-o-rama.

POWER-UP. Edmund is pushed out wide but returns with an epic forehand.

    Set point!

    Saved! Edmund hits long.

The Brit moves up to the net again and whips a forehand past Lajovic.

Break point again! But saved again as a result of good defensive work by Lajovic. He's hanging on in there.

Lajovic gets out of trouble again with good serves.

    Lajovic 3-6 3-5 Edmund*

Edmund is coming to the net a lot more. He batters a forehand which should have made a hole in the clay.

It's 30-0 soon, but a backhand into the net by Edmund and a shot right on the line pulls the scores level. Tension. How will the 21-year-old Beverley lad respond?

Well, in fact. Strong serve + strong forehand = hold.

Any neutral ball from Lajovic is just getting punished by Edmund and he is not used to playing someone like that.

    Lajovic 3-6 3-4 Edmund*

Lajovic slips, recovers, then whips a topspin forehand that goes wide - 15-15.

He follows that up with an ace, but Edmund levels again.

The Brit then comes to the net - a rare expedition - and takes the point.

    Break point again!

    Saved again! With an ace.

But two more mistakes as a result of some Edmo aggro leads to the Brit converting.

Great Britain will face Argentina in the semi-finals if they clinch this tie here.

Argentina beat Italy 3-1 in an away tie after Federico Delbonis beat Fabio Fognini in four sets to record his second victory of the match in Pesaro.

Juan Martin del Potro and Guido Pella secured the other point with victory in Saturday's doubles.

    *Lajovic 3-6 3-3 Edmund

Edmund might have to improve his drop-shot skills. He misses a simple chance at the net at 30-0.

Lajovic then comes to the net and wins the point to level 30-30.

The netting comes to the rescue of Lajovic again - this time the ball creeps over and confuses Edmund who misjudges his shot.

    Break point!

    Saved! Sliced wide by Lajovic.

    Forehand winner.

    Lajovic error.

    Edmund holds.
