There's going to be a very slight delay while a court-invading moth is removed. Broady does her best to pick it up but the moth, realising it's getting in the way of a good game, flies away on its own accord.

Gavrilova shakes her head as she comes off second best in a rally, badly mistiming her response to a Broady drop shot.

The Australian stops to have a brief conversation with herself as she hits a forehand skyward, before another fine ace from Broady has her sprawling to her right. The Brit will hold her serve to love...

Anything she can do, I can do. A fine ace from Gavrilova, her fourth of the match, gets the crowd's approval. A lovely backhand, timed perfectly, wins Gavrilova the game. Another shake of the fist towards the box.

Gavrilova briefly pulls up, holding her leg after a volley goes awry, but she seems okay. Broady pops up a return and Gavrilova says thank you, hammering it back to get on the board.

Broady serves her 11th ace before another lob at the net beats Gavrilova. Clever stuff.

Neck and neck at the minute, Gavrilova spearing down a forehand winner and Broady responding in kind.

An inside out forehand from Broady has Gavrilova looking momentarily miffed, but the Australian has found an extra gear from somewhere. Broady weakly returns another almighty thwack and Gavrilova yells her approval as she holds.

    *Gavrilova 3-6 6-4 1-1 Broady

The intensity has gone up a notch as Broady crashes down another ace. There's some irritated pointing of the racquet from Gavrilova as a forehand sails wide.

Broady finishes things off with another ace. She's worked that powerful serve to her advantage today.

    Gavrilova 3-6 6-4 1-0 Broady*

Ridiculous. Broady smacks an aerial shot that somehow lands in and Gavrilova scoops the return up. A defensive lob looks to have won Broady the point but Gavrilova comes racing in from nowhere to hook the ball over the net.

Big cheers from the crowd now as Broady slices a backhand into the net, before Gavrilova tidies up the game.

It really depends on how Broady responds. She is the more aggressive player but she got a little bit uptight.

It's been a cracking game so far, both players going all out. Broady takes a swig of water while Gavrilova taps her feet on the floor. Final set ahoy.

Have that. A brutal cross court forehand from Gavrilova gets the crowd going, and throws Broady off her serve.

Broady hits back with a cracker of a forehand from behind the baseline, beating Gavrilova, but she overhits a return and Gavrilova raises her fist to the crowd as they get to their feet. Second set to Gavrilova.

Gavrilova takes a brief time out to get rid of something off the court, and the ball girl gets a round of applause as she finishes off the tidying up.

This is a much better game from Gavrilova, both players meeting aggression with aggression. Broady mistimes another drop shot, though, and Gavrilova lets out a yell in response. She gives her racquet a huge swing in the air as she holds her serve.

If I were a body language expert - and believe me, I'm not - I'd say Gavrilova is thoroughly unimpressed with the way she's let this set slip.

There's a huge cheer from the Australian as a clever backhand beats Broady, but the Brit responds with a corker of an ace that beats everything.

Both players are being super aggressive, Broady forcing Gavrilova to move her feet before she's up at the net and tonking the ball over. Superb stuff from Broady, moving from 0-30 down to hold her serve.

Gavrilova just retreated a tad and Broady took advantage. She returned better. Well played.

Gavrilova beats Broady at her own game, coming up to the net to meet a drop shot and whacking it beyond Broady's reach.

There's plenty of fist shaking and 'come ons' from the Australian as she races through the set to hold to love.

Plenty of atmosphere inside the Margaret Court Arena as Naomi Broady takes a breath before launching into her serve.

A better backhand from the Brit throws Gavrilova's response off, but the Australian is aggressive and an almighty thwack of a forehand beats Broady.

Broady is much stronger up at the net, again beating Gavrilova, and she watches a mistimed backhand sail into the back of the court to ensure she holds her serve.

Ooft. Clever from Broady, forcing Gavrilova to go deep before coming forward and slicing a superb forehand past her opponent.

Broady lobs it up, trying to force an error. Gavrilova responds with a glorious slam back and then that backhand doesn't go Broady's way again, the ball bouncing out of reach.

Gavrilova doesn't miss a beat, a lovely ace ensuring she holds her serve.
