    Evans 7-5 7-6 (7-2) 1-0 *Tomic

Dan Evans is strutting about on the baseline like he owns Hisense, letting his lip fly at that spectator with whom he had a second-set bust-up over a cough.

He's the most Australian Brit these fans will have ever seen.

Two sets in the bag and doesn't Dan Evans look like the more confident player to me, he looks like the one who really believes he can win this match. Evans won the tiebreak in some style.

    Evans 7-5 7-6 (7-2) Tomic

Daniel Evans has Bernard Tomic exactly where he wants him.

Tomic has won eight of the 11 five-setters that he has played at Tour level.

But will this get that far? Evans has been the better player by a greater margin than the scoreline suggests.

    Another mini-break!

Dan Evans with a beautifully crafted point, creeping to the net to sock away the volley behind a barrage of quality groundstrokes.

More delicate hands from the Briton.

He is two points away as they take a sip and John Tomic shakes his head.

15-40 and a mountain of pressure on Dan Evans.

He saves one set point with a pelted serve that Bernard Tomic cannot claw back.

Here is a second. Evans lands with a second serve. Into a rally, Tomic chopping, defending and finally over-cooking by an inch.

    Deuce.

    The Hisense Arena is jumping.

Every point now seems as precious as baby's hair. The home crowd greet every Tomic winner with glee.

From the brink of going two sets down, their man is four points away from parity in this next game.

    Evans 7-5 5-5 *Tomic

Body language-wise, Dan Evans is everything that Bernard Tomic isn't.

The Briton is uppercutting the air, hollering every winner and bristling with aggression.

Tomic is wandering round like someone trying to remember if they left the gas on back home.

Two sets points stir the home fighter to life though.

He saves both. The second with a delicious punch down the line.

Tomic brings up a break point with a skidding return. Evans frames a backhand towards the skies, And suddenly the atmosphere changes with Tomic wagging his finger towards his box.

A brief purple patch? Or the start of the fightback?

    Did someone order some spice?

Dan Evans pauses mid-ball toss at 40-30 up, incensed that someone is repeatedly coughing during his service motion.

He goes and asks the umpire to get the offender ejected. The ump says no.

Evans, steam hissing out of his ears, heads back to the baseline. Serves hard and true and then hammers away a winner.

He turns to the crowd and sledges back with interest.
