Pospisil hangs on by his fingertips in a 20-shot rally, Evans unable him to kick him off a ledge James Bond-style.

The Canadian drags himself back to safety, avoiding the double break.

Pospisil hammers down his fifth successive ace, only to be pegged back when he volleys into the net.

A foot fault is cheered by the British fans, leading the baby-faced Pospisil to dish out an angry glare. Evans misses a backhand at 15-30, allowing the Canadian to roar back to 40-30.

But then a double fault lets Evans in through the sidedoor...

Evo crunches a first serve out wide, Pospisil slapping a forehand into the net. Advantage Great Britain...

Then he moves on to the front front again, pinning Pospisil back and forcing the Canadian long.

    Important hold for Evans.

A comfortable hold would be the dream for Dan Evans here. It looks on the cards as he races into a 40-0 lead, only for Vasek Pospisil to wipe out that advantage. Deuce...

Evo moves into the net - for only the fourth time in the match - to guide in a winning volley. Then he watches Pospisil sneak in to do the same.

    Deuce #2...

We know Dan Evans is a fighter, but this is completely taking the biscuit. Evo racks up two more break points as he threatens to run away with this fourth set.

Woah, stop right there Mr Evans.

Pospisil recovers the first with his first ace for over a set. Then, to trot out that old cliche, the aces arrive quicker than London buses. The big-serving Canadian hammers down three more to hold. Wow.

The magnificent seven! Dan Evans is not quite Steve McQueen, but he has outgunned his opponent in superb style. Evans holds in relatively easy fashion for his seventh game on the spin. Talking of spins, Pospisil's head is in the tumble dryer.

What. A. Turnaround! The 'Evo is on fire' song is being trotted out now by the British fans.

Another break point for Dan Evans in the opening game of the fourth set - but he is made to wait. His crosscourt backhand is good, but a line call puts Vasek Pospisil off - allegedly - meaning he gets his first serve back when the point has to be replayed.

Justice is served though as Evans nabs the point.

Pospisil perhaps just looked ahead. When you haven’t won a lot of matches you sometimes switch off and look ahead too much. His first-serve percentage dropped and a lot of it was errors he just wasn’t making for the first two sets. But what a comeback from Dan Evans - and will the physicality now come into it for Pospisil? He’s got to be feeling it after three days of intense Davis Cup pressure.

The comeback begins! Dan Evans earns a set point at 30-40 and takes it when Pospisil goes long.

Five games on the bounce for the Brit ends in him taking this match into a fourth set. Call The Midwife is going to have to be watched on iPlayer later I'm afraid.

HUGE moment here. So huge I needed to use capital letters.

Evans forces Pospisil on the back foot, the rally swinging from side to side like a clock pendulum. Finally Pospisil goes long, a late call arriving as the ball hits the frame of Evans' racquet.

Pospisil challenges... the crowd holds its breath... OUT!

    Pospisil 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 3-4 Evans

Evans screams with joy as he nudges the scoreboard in his favour at 0-15, then looks to the floor - almost in disbelief - as Pospisil cracks another wonderful cross-court forehand winner.

Points are traded again, Evans slapping his hand with this strings to spur himself on. Evans races back and forth across the baseline, like a primary school kid doing shuttle runs, Pospisil eventually bagging the winner for 40-30.

Evans forces deuce with an excellent return, but that Pospisil first serve comes out to play again. A neat pick-up by the Brummie forces a second deuce then he has another break point when the Canadian volleys again into the net...

    "Suuuuu-per, Su-per Dan, su-per Dan Evans!"

The Barmy Army are buoyed by what they have just seen, roaring on their man as he looks to hold and put the pressure back on Vasek Pospisil.

Dan Evans is back in this match, on the scoreboard and (perhaps more importantly) mentally, as he holds to 15.

Dan’s got to right away get back to the business of holding his own serve – that one was given away by the Canadian.

    Pospisil 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 3-3 Evans*

Dan Evans silences the Ottawa crowd with a beautifully-judged lob that no-one initially thinks is in for 15-15, pegging back his rival again when Vasek Pospisil wrongly challenges an overcooked forehand.

Then Pospisil shanks a return to bring up a third break point of the set for Evans. He's choked! A double fault hands the game over to Evans with bows and ribbons. A present.

    *Pospisil 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 3-2 Evans

Pospisil does what Evans can't - punish his opponent's second serve. The Canadian bounds on to a short ball from Evans, burying a forehand winner for 30-30. Evans recovers for 40-30, but he is pegged back to deuce by another stunner of a forehand winner.

Evo shouts 'Come on' as Pospisil slaps ball into net, bringing out a tight fist-clench when he seals the game with a blistering serve that the Canadian can't handle.

Now then, is Evans going to capture that pesky break once and for all?

Ah. That break point is swallowed up by another monster of a Pospisil serve down the middle. Evans is shouting and gesticulating at someone somewhere. Probably Leon Smith.

A brilliantly-bad mis-hit turns out to be, well, brilliant. Evans setting up break point #2 with a clunky forehand past Pospisil.

What weapon can Pospisil bring out? Oh yeah, the thumping ace down the middle. That swings the momentum back in his favour, Evans clubbing a return long as the Canadian holds.

Dan Evans has been sniffing around Vasek Pospisil's serve. But can he get a bona fide chance now? Boy does he need it. Evans in the mix at 15-30, only to be beaten by a super forehand winner from Pospisil. Evans challenges, technology is on the Canadian's side.

But Pospisil loses his rhythm to hand a break point to Dan Evans...

Oh no. Dan Evans finds himself in big bother. He trails 0-40 as Vasek Pospisil dismantles his serve, the Canadian taking the first break point when Evans spanks a forehand wide.

This game is slipping further out of Evans's sweaty palm.

Dan Evans gets to 0-30 on Vasek Pospisil's serve. Don't get too excited yet British fans - this is the fourth time in a row.

The Canadian has been digging himself out some deep holes with that spade of a first serve, but this time he has left it at home. Luckily though he has a spare one with him.

His second serve turns into a decent weapon, fending off Evans who is forced into errors. Pospisil wins four points in a row to hold.
