    *Edmund 3-3 Pouille

Pouille's got a big serve, targeting the far corners of the court, and that's twice now that Edmund hasn't been able to meet it. He races to 40-0 before Edmund gets on the board as Pouille nets.

Edmund's forehand is excellent, so much power behind it, and Pouille can only tamely slash it into the net. Pouille will hold, though, as he goes down the line.

    Edmund 3-2 Pouille*

I'm generally quite anti-bands at sporting events but props to the one in Rouen, who are easily one of the most tuneful I've heard.

There's a quick chat for both players from their captains, before Lucas Pouille readies himself for his service game.

    Edmund 3-2 Pouille*

Up to the net for both players now and that's a cracking little backhand volley from Edmund, beating Pouille's outstretched arm. He's raced to 40-0 on his serve and he holds to love courtesy of a backhand error from Pouille.

Getting in the French team is tough enough, and now Lucas Pouille is leading the team.

It's a big step-up. He's expected to win both singles games in this tie.

  5. Edmund breaks backpublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    *Edmund 2-2 Pouille

Back-to-back errors on his forehand from Pouille, twice finding the net, brings about a grunt of frustration and a fist pump from Edmund. Pouille then comes up to the net but Edmund is equal to it from behind the baseline, hammering a huge forehand past his opponent.

That brings up break point and Edmund takes it as Pouille overworks his forehand! Even stevens once again.

  7. Pouille breaks Edmundpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Edmund 1-2 Pouille*

Ooft, Lucas Pouille. A gorgeous drop shot, plenty of top spin, to a powerful Edmund forehand, and Edmund can't get near it. Evans faults on his serve to bring up two break points, but saves one with a nice rally that he's in control of all the way.

He can't save that though, Pouille hammering a forehand beyond his reach. The early break goes to France.

    *Edmund 1-1 Pouille

A little fist pump from Pouille as he gets on the board with a dinky forehand, before Edmund makes a mess of returning from the baseline. An overhit forehand betrays a hint of nerves, but Pouille soon has Edmund sprawling to return another forehand. All square.

  9. 'Edmund has decent shot'published at 13:11 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    John Lloyd
Former GB Davis Cup captain on BBC Two

He's proved he can play well in big matches in the Davis Cup. Lucas Pouille is the best player in the tie but Kyle Edmund is tough on clay.

He can get his big forehand working. It's going to be a big test for him but I think he's got a decent shot in this match.

    Edmund 1-0 Pouille*

A lovely service game from Kyle Edmund first up. His forehand looks in fine touch, two powerful winners crashing past Lucas Pouille. There's a big cheer from the British contingent as Edmund holds to love.

    Edmund v Pouille

Kyle Edmund has had some of his best results on clay and has won two of his three Davis Cup rubbers played on the surface.

In the Davis Cup quarter-finals last year, the 22-year-old beat both Janko Tipsarevic and Dusan Lajovic in straight sets to earn victory against Serbia in Belgrade.

He was also the victor the last time he and Lucas Pouille met in Brisbane this year - but Pouille was forced to retire from the clash after struggling with blisters on his feet.

  13. Big names miss outpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    France v GB

France haven't won the Davis Cup since 2001 and, given their higher rankings and a home crowd, they will be feeling confident.

However it isn't all plain sailing for the home side.

They're missing some key players - world number 10 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is short of match fitness, while Gale Monfils is injured and Richard Gasquet is recovering from appendix surgery.

GB beat France at the same stage back in 2015, but they were inspired by Andy Murray back then, who beat Gilles Simon to put them into the semi-finals. This time around, Murray is on the sidelines as he recovers from an elbow injury.

"It's the Davis Cup - anything can happen."

Wise words from Jamie Murray ahead of today's tie in Rouen.

GB reached the quarter-finals after Canada's Denis Shapovalov was defaulted from the decisive match for hitting the umpire with a ball struck in anger. Everyone will be hoping for a more sedate match today...

    GB v France

Hello! Ready for some Davis Cup action?

At this stage in 2015, an Andy Murray-inspired GB beat France and reached the semi-finals at Queen's Club

But that was then. This time round there's no Murray, no grass, no home crowd cheering them on. It's going to be a tough one for GB as they face France.
