The Nadal family - mum, dad, sister, girlfriend, and uncle of course - are still hugging and high-fiving long after match point, and little wonder. They must have thought these days were gone at some points over the last three years. And it is especially emotional for Toni Nadal, who has just officially coached his 10th and last French Open win. He retires at the end of the season to run Rafa's academy in Majorca.

Rafa usually ties his shoelaces before he wanders back onto court for his winning interview. I think he's decided to give that a miss today. It's a special occasion after all.

Not only has Nadal wowed the crowd with his terrific tennis, he also speaks to them in three different languages. And he's a good-looking chap. If he wasn't so nice he'd make you sick with jealousy...

"I'm a little emotional," he confesses. Take your time Rafa...

It's an amazing effort for this guy to recover his career after injuries and poor form. I don't know if he really believed he had another Grand Slam in him. To come through here and win his 10th - barely losing games - there's been unbelievable play and whether it's in other people's minds that Rafa's back and it's pointless, I don't know. Stan didn't know what to do. The opposition just can't play well against Rafa. He's got that something.

Pure emotion from Rafa. His face is covered by a towel as he takes in the magnitude of this victory. I think we know there might be a few tears behind the cotton.

Simply sensational. Long live the King of Clay....

All over! Rafa Nadal makes it the perfect 10. La Decima!

Stan wafts at a forehand volley, the ball crashing into the net.

Rafa closes his eyes, lets go of his racquet, drops to the red clay. It's is a celebration we have seen nine times before - and we see it again.

I think the standard Rafa is playing here, compared to where he was a year ago, is night and day. How someone can go from a horrible sad decline to this standard is amazing.

We know Stan isn't going to give up running, but you just think that he could run all day and still not much success. Rafa's power and placement is just that good.

Stan gets his strings on the ball in three consecutive points, but is unable to return them to safety as Rafa goes 40-0 ahead.

Make that four. Stan is so deep behind the baseline he is almost tripping over the line-judges.

A desperate lunge of a backhand goes into the net... Rafa is one game away from victory.

Abu Ali‏: Could we get another Roger v Rafa final at Wimbledon? On their current form it would be another classic!

Sho Rahman: Don't really know what Wawrinka can do here to get back into this. He has to hope Nadal's level drops.

Ross Evans: Different level tennis for Nadal. You could have two Stan's on court, he'd still find a way to score the point.

Stan, Stan, Stan. He follows that winner up with a poor smash and then he disintegrates quicker than a sandcastle caught by the tide.

Two unforced errors hand over the break to Rafa on a plate.

Stan's trying something, and you've got to give him credit for that. But he's got to back it up. You can't get the crowd going and then make a silly mistake.

Nadal makes an unforced error. That's the first one of the set from the Spaniard. He also goes into the net from close range.

Stan can't get over the line though, nor can he in the next game point.

A brilliant backhand winner from the Swiss, after he scampers forward to reach a spinning Rafa drop-shot, draws huge applause from Chatrier.

Stan wheels his arms to get them behind him.

What. A. Pass. Stan is almost laughing. It is that ridiculous from Rafa. Wawrinka can't hit a forehand return much better, still Nadal gets there and beats him with a forehand winner.

Stan must feel like he is headbutting a brick wall. In fact, he might have more chance breaking that down than Rafa.

Stan still leads 40-30, however. Ah, then he slaps a volley into the net from close range. Deuce...

There are smiles coming across people's faces saying 'yes, now we've got a match'.

They probably want Rafa to win but they also want to see a match.

That was the best game we've seen from a while - from both players. Beautiful winners being hit and Wawrinka is showing some signs of life.

"Noooo," groans Stan as he lamps a cross-court forehand into the tramlines.

Advantage Rafa... game Rafa. The Swiss third seed plants another one deep, too deep, and it is a hold for the nine-time champ.
