As always, there are plenty inside Centre Court backing Roger Federer. His legion of fans will be impressed by what they have seen from their man so far.

    *Federer 6-3 2-0 Dolgopolov

Dolgopolov, a jolly chap, is sharing a joke with the umpire again after Roger Federer challenges a call.

"That was ok?" he says with a hint of sarcasm, referring to the last game in which Dolgopolov was too late with a call.

    The umpire laughs nervously.

Back in play, Federer has a second break point opportunity. A double fault costs Dolgopolov. A breakthrough for the Swiss.

    *Boulter 6-3 5-7 2-3 McHale

Three games in a row for McHale and she now leads in the final set.

The American is chancing her arm with long delays between serves and it looks like the umpire has just had a quiet word about it.

When in play, she's looking a touch too good for Boulter now, wrong-footing the Briton with some well-placed strokes to hold.

    *Sugita 7-6 (7-5) 5-3 Klein

The good news is Klein is back on his feet following some lengthy treatment, with plenty of strapping to his foot.

He's moving well enough to hold his serve but Sugita will now serve for the second set.

Duncan Mitchell: Ridiculous that two biggest games of the day on Centre may be ruined by an injured player who could have pulled out before.

Theo Bowyer: Seems like there's more players carrying knocks than fully fit... the cynic in me says they just want the first round dollar.

Bridgette Parlma: Now Dolgo is injured.....pffffttttttttt - Centre Court curse.

Dolgopolov seems to be fine, had a long chat with his physio but had no treatment administered. It's not a great sign calling for a physio this early in a match.

    Federer 6-3 1-0 Dolgopolov*

We are back in action on Centre Court after the medical break.

Roger Federer lands his seventh ace to make it 30-30.

Dolgopolov decides he wants to challenge a call on a return which was called long, but the umpire tells him he's too late. Awkward.

    Federer goes on to hold.

  8. Radwanska throughpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    Radwanksa 7-6 (7-3) 6-0 Jankovic

Ninth seed Agnieszka Radwanska is through to the second round after victory over Jelena Jankovic.

Very much a match of two halves. The first set went to a tie-break. The second, Radwanksa won without dropping a match.

  9. McHale breaks backpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    Boulter 6-3 5-7 2-2 McHale*

Nervy stuff from Boulter as she is taken to deuce on her serve and then McHale sets up a break point.

A long rally follows, a couple of net cords for McHale, Boulter keeps her composure, defends well but finally the American turns the screw and finishes to the Briton's left.

They're back level in this deciding set.

  10. Roger reaches 10,000 career acespublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    Landmark.

  11. ouch!

    Ouch!published at 16:39 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    Sugita 7-6 (7-5) 5-2 Klein*

Pain all round for Brydan Klein, who slipped awkwardly, continued but was then broken by Sugita and has now limped off.

The trainer has been called and is working on the Briton but it doesn't look good.

  12. Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    *Federer 6-3 Dolgopolov

Hummm, we have a case of deja vu on Centre Court.

Just like in the Djokovic-Klizan match, the physio has been called after the first set.

Alexandr Dolgopolov needs some attention on his ankle. Hopefully he's able to carry on in a short while.

    Ward 4-6 4-6 1-0 Baghdatis*

It's not looking too good for James Ward on court 18. He squandered a chance to break Marcos Baghdatis mid-way through the second set, and Baghdatis didn't need another invitation.

He's just a set away from a place in the second round.

    *Boulter 6-3 5-7 2-1 McHale

She technically doesn't need another break but Boulter will want to do more against the McHale serve in the rest of this set as the American holds.

  15. Game and first setpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    *Federer 6-3 Dolgopolov

Federer's going to try and pounce for another break here. He's got two set points.

Dolgopolov's fine serve does the job to save one, but then he can only net with a backhand.

The first set goes to Federer.

  16. Postpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    Boulter 6-3 5-7 2-0 McHale*

Boulter is the world number 238.

McHale is the world number 60.

But the numbers that really matter are these - 6-3 5-7 2-0 - and they're in favour of Boulter.

The wilcard player holds under pressure from the American, eventually forcing her opponent to swipe a backhand wide of the tramlines.

  17. Postpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    Federer 5-3 Dolgopolov*

Dolgopolov has Roger Federer doing shuttle runs across the grass. Fair play.

And the Ukrainian is sneaking over some deft returns over the net, as well. He pushes Federer all the way, but the 35-year-old doesn't crumble. Instead, he holds again.

  18. Postpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 4 July 2017

    *Boulter 6-3 5-7 1-0 McHale

It looked like all the momentum was with McHale but she's been broken by Boulter in the first game of this deciding set.

Huge spirit from the Briton after losing the second.

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC TV

Dolgopolov is keeping the pressure on, he's not afraid of the occasion or overwhelmed as some of the other first round opponenets have been. He's not out there to make Federer look good.
